Parkland Residency's for January 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Hi guys!

I just wanted to start a thread for everyone applying for the January residency's at Parkland so we can keep each other updated on progress. I've been told that they take their time in getting back to people and the process is slow! I applied to the ER and MICU last weekend and haven't heard anything yet. What specialty areas have you guys applied to and have you been contacted yet?

I have a bachelor's degree in teaching but not a BSN. I am working as a PCT right now for experience and it took a lot of time to get an interview and finally this job. I graduate in December.

I completed a second degree accelerated BSN program in August, and I have no health care experience. Before I started my BSN program, I had planned on getting a tech job during the program, but once we got going I realized I had zero time for anything except school.

Where did you get your BSN?

I am from out of state, and I received my BSN in Florida. I received an update email from the OR recruiter earlier indicating they were going to review my application and to wait for further email communication.

I talked to a friend who went through the application process last year and she warned me that the process takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R. She said she didn't hear back from them until 5 weeks after she had originally applied and even then it took an additional three weeks to be offered a job.

Well, one student in our class has been offered a place in the neonatal ICU residency, so they are obviously talking to people.

Specializes in Emergency.

I know that the ED Residency starts in Feb this year round.

I received a call from the recruiter this morning to schedule an interview for the ED residency. My interview is Wednesday. My background is BSN graduate 2011. I've been working as a nurse at a trauma facility in the ER for the past year. I've already gone through an internship previously, and yet in still parkland won't hire RNs unless they have 2 years experience into their ED. So residency is a must. I've also applied last year, interviewed but was not selected.

I received another email last night for the ICU residency that my resume had been forwarded to the hiring manager.

Congrats and good luck LeveloneRN!

I received that email too last night, and they called this morning. So keep looking out and checking your phone. It's weird this time, they NEVER called me last time, everything was through the email, and now they called and left a voicemail, I was so shocked!

Specializes in Trauma/ER.

I currently work for PMH and they began ER Residency interviews today. There are 22-27 spots. From my understanding, decisions will be made by December 7. Good luck to you all. The staff is amazing!

I just got out of my NNICU interview an hour ago. It went well I would say. I really hope I get it :)

They said they are winding down and making their final selections this week and next week.
