Parkland Critical Care and Trauma Internship 2012

Published

Has anyone else applied to Parkland's critical care and trauma internship and heard anything back?

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

Parkland is notorious for a VERY slow hiring process.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Moving to TX forum for more responses.

I just submitted mine this Friday and she said she would look over it on Monday. She also said they have about 100-120 applicants and they pick 20-25. So the odds are good. She said she is trying to personally call every applicant and interviews will be this month with final decisions by the beginning of April. I am just wondering what exactly they are looking for? What was your background (gpa, preceptorships, volunteer experience, what school)? Did you have any additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, etc)?

I did today and have an interview Monday. I applied Friday. I know they have interviewed 15 people so far and plan to interview 75!!!!!! She said she has not had that many applicants yet and thinks she will get a lot this week. She said she was looking to get 100-150 applicants. I would really recommend calling Laura (she's in charge of the internship). I have already called her twice and she now remembers me. She is very friendly and it is good to get your foot in the door. Did you do both the paper application and the online one?

Yes, I have had my interview. Glad the pressure is officially off! Now for the waiting.. Good luck with your interview, they were very nice and give a lot of insight on the program!

What was the interview like? Did you take the medication math test? Was it just like the study guide that they sent out? Congrats on your interview!!!!!! What is your background like (EMT, ACLS, etc.)?

The medication test is very similar to the review. The interview was very laid back, nothing to be worried about. I do not have ACLS or EMT but have worked and volunteered in various hospitals.

Were you a CNA? Thanks for the information. I'm already starting to get a little nervous!

I was a nurse tech. No need to be nervous! Keep us updated if you find anything out!

Had my interview yesterday...they said word would be sent out by mid-April. Boo!

I had mine on Monday. They were so nice. But it was soo long!!!!! I was there from 9:00am to 1:00pm! They also told me mid-April as well. How did you feel like your interview went?
