Parkland Critical Care Nurse Residency Sept 2012

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi all,

I'm somewhat new to this forum. I applied to Parkland's MICU and SICU residency. I've already received the email saying my apps were forwarded to the hiring manager. I'm looking for any info on what the hiring process is like, far as, how long after receiving the email did you get an interview and also any info on how the residency works. My dream is either to get into the ED or one of the critical care areas. I know this would be a great opportunity to be employed at a Level I trauma center. Any advice, tips, connections and info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I hear ya Babigrl, I would be lost without this site. Well, I just received an email from my recruiter. It basically has a map of the hospital, directions, the I9 doc, and a welcome to Parkland letter. I'm assuming that is what u have in ur new hire folder. So excited!!! I'm about to read everything now.

In the folder it was just that I9 form and orientation info. But I got the offer email with the letter.

Look forward to seeing you on Monday. Don't be late lol

I am getting up extra early in order not to risk being late. I'm super excited! I just need to train my brain into getting used to going to sleep early again. :)

Yeah I know I'll definitely be up extra early. Probably won't be able to sleep on Sunday night lol

On Monday orientation is in the MacGregor Wood Day Auditorium which is on the 1st floor in the main hospita @8 doors open @7:15. To get to the auditorium after you get off the shuttle and go through the breezeway go through the main doors and it should be there. It's business casual. I'm assuming the nurse educator will tell us on Monday what we can wear for the nursing orientation. I know the only email we should be getting is the one containing the official offer letter but I'm not sure exactly what day that will be this week.

Thanks babigrl! Gosh I have not looked at this post in forever, because I stopped getting notifications that there were new posts. I just decided to go look, glad I did!

I STILL have not gotten my instructions for orientation! I tried to call my recruiter today. NO LUCK! I just got my ATT, so I am expecting my GN permit by friday... pushing it a little close lol. I was told by my recruiter that I will not be sent the orientation info until my permit is turned in. As difficult as my recruiter is to get a hold of... that sounds risky to me. Guess I can show up if I don't get a response after it is turned in...

She did tell my that orientation is in the MacGregor Auditorium as well, promised to send my I-9 form etc... which I NEVER got. The only thing I have gotten was my sample contract, and told we will get the real one in person.

So you haven't gotten the official offer letter as of yet. That's what the last email I got consisted of.

Yeah, I can't get it until my requirements are filled... hence must have a GN permit before the start date.

I think I wrote that backwards lol. I am pretty tired right now :)

I hope u get it by Friday. What school did I graduate from? I think I got my GN permit the next day after my ATT.
