Parkinson med causing compulsive gambling?

Published

My husband came home with this strange story that he claims he heard on the news. He said the Mayo clinic is studying a Parkinson med because it proportedly produces compulsive gambing. I hope he is pulling a April fools joke on me in July because this sounds like lawyer's dream come true. Anyone else hear about this?

Yep, Cheerful. I think the first article came from the UK, but, many are appearing in the U.S. These drugs, as you know, are Dopamine agonists and have a play in the pleasure center of the brain. So, alter the pleasure principle and you have overwhelming addiction??

I was just looking at the SAME thing...Mirapex?

Hubby and I are quite amused by this article. We are thinking that we are getting a little long in the tooth and that if we could somehow skip the compulsive gambling and go straight to the compulsive sex part we would be tempted to try the stuff.:rotfl:
