PALOMAR/MIRA Costa ADN Programs 2022

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone I wanted to start a thread so we can support one another /ask questions for those of us who are applying to an ADN program 2022 Spring with Palomar, Mira Costa, Grossmont!

Does anyone know how many students they're accepting now after Covid? I heard its a little less competitive for Spring Vs fall!

It seems like it's less comparative this time, and the score may go down to the 81 and even 80. Because the last lower batch scores were all taken by city college all the way down to 75. I am reapplying to Palomar hopefully I get in with 85 points.

I hope so because when I read some of the other comments students were applying with 90-95! Im sure youll do fine. When you took the ATI TEAS was it harder or exactly like the ATI practice tests? Im taking it next week so nervous

Yes buy the ATI package, it helps a lot. I have the book still brand new.

Hi guys, thank for making this. I am applying to Mira Costa, Palomar, and MSJC.

MiraCosta: 93-94 points

Palomar: 93-94 points

MSJC: 95 points

TEAS: 84

When I went to the orientation at MiraCosta they said the average acceptance rate was 93 points, so IDK if it'll be higher or lower this application period. They only accept 20 students.

Palomar accepts 36 students (I believe) and many people do not take their spot there so there's a good chance for a lot of us getting in there.

Lastly, for MSJC they said that there are a lot of people with 100's and they're only accepting 12 for Spring. ?

It was way harder than the practice tests. I also bought the package and it did help a lot, but that grammar section caught me (and many others) OFF GUARD. On facebook, even grammar teachers were scoring low 70's on it (grammar section) and we all thought it was "easy" when we were taking it. The science is a lot of critical thinking and only half the questions were actually A&P. The reading was harder too on the real test and the math was the only thing that was the same.

Yeah thats what I thought. Did you retake it? and did it get easier? Im taking it next week so trying to prepare. I don't understand why they throw in grammar words we don't even use. As far as the Chemistry part was it the basics or more in debt? can you give me a few examples of what they ask

Thanks again and good luck!

No cause they only accept first attempt score! (Unless u fail) but yeah I can’t even give you examples cause they were hard & I don’t remember. The wording is just very weird and particular.. like some questions would be easier if they were worded differently - does that make sense? I recommend you join the TEAS facebook study group cause you can find a lot of info from other people Who have taken the test.
& yes for The grammar I got a 67 on it and all the questions I missed were the ones that pertain to the definition of some random word like you can’t really study for that ?

Thanks for the heads up! The TEAS was definitely WAY harder than the practice tests and had so much more Chemistry/scientific method case scenarios than expected. It made me kind of frustrated that it wasn't in the study packets I bought. I managed to get a 89% on the TEAS.

So ill be applying to Palomar/Grossmont with 84-85

and Mira costa with 90(which I doubt ill have a chance)

I haven't even looked into southwestern since I lost 25 points not having VN license or California CNA Certification LOL

?

Hey guys! I just sent in my applications to Palomar & MiraCosta! So happy that that’s all over LOL.

I’m looking at 92 points for MiraCosta & 87 points for Palomar, as long as I get all my points for life experience

im not expecting to get into MiraCosta, but I feel really good about Palomar but I’m trying not to get my hopes too high up.

I have my CNA, Associates degree, 4.0 in sciences, 3.5 in fixed, 2 semesters of Spanish, and I got an 88.7 on the TEAS.
Im so nervous! I saw the accepted points really jumped up for Palomar last semester so I’m really nervous to see if there’s another jump. I hope to make the cut!
good luck to all of you! Cheers to this new adventure!

Wow @gabdcruz95 those are some serious points, good job!

@jaaadelzNice those are great points! You have a high chance it seems.

Honestly reading through this website is bittersweet; somedays I wish I never discovered it and then other days I find a glimpse of hope. LOL.

I heard sometimes they accept on first come first first serve, or it's just a numbers/points game,  and the fact we won't know what they accepted or not and if there's certain exceptions...

Overall at least we have one another for information/support during the time being ?
