Palomar College and MiraCosta College - Fall 2023

Published

Starting a column for those of us applying for the fall 2023 cohorts through Palomar and MiraCosta colleges. Good luck applicants!

Hi Heidi Ortiz,

Congratulations on your acceptance to Grossmont's Nursing Program????

I applied and waiting on Palomar's RN Generic Program . As for Miracosta, I applied to their LVN to RN bridge program in Jan-2022 and also waiting as well. I might put my name in the hat for their Generic Program next month. ?

Thanks for starting the thread- I've been peeking intermittently to see if people are chatting about it yet.

I saw that you got into Grossmont! That is awesome. Do you have a preferred school if you also get into MC & Palomar?

-----

How do you feel about the documentation requirements for each school?
---

I think my preference list is 1) MiraCosta, 2) Palomar, 3) Grossmont. They are all great schools but Palomar and MiraCosta are closer to where I live. I feel good (and a little freaked out haha) knowing that I got accepted to Grossmont so that I at least have somewhere to go. How about you ladies? Which school is your preference?

I felt that Palomar was a pretty user-friendly format as far as submitting my application, I'm excited to finally apply to MiraCosta tomorrow. It's finally here ladies!

@heidi ortiz

Good luck with the MC app!

I have the same order of preferences- I have a soft spot for Mira Costa because I got my CNA certificate there many (many, many, many) years ago. And commute wise - they all are kind of atrocious but I have more places to crash in the North County Coastal area - so it remains solidly first. Palomar is well established but driving there from where I am now would be awful.

-------

I also applied to CSULB (No word from them ? - Honestly, I may have messed something up in the application) CSUSM (fighting about transcripts that they say they didn't receive which may render me ineligible for the "strict deadlines" even though I have receipts to prove I followed instructions and SDSU... but because they get so many applicants I don't expect much, but thought I would try anyway for the BSNs.

Grossmont is the preferred for most people that interesting

@TouchTheSky333 I didn't realize that grossmont was the preferred program for others. Why do you think that may be the case?

Heads up to Mira Costa applicants, It looks like the application is struggling to save previously input information!

Plan to do it in one sitting.

(This may have been fixed but that was the case a few hours ago!)

Doing the application as we speak and it has been doing that to me. It doesn't save previous info I inputted as well as the Yes/No tabs keep toggling to a different response for me. Double check before you submit!

I think they have 100% NCLEX pass rate and just a good reputation

I had the same issues with the toggles. It was bizarre!

Yes I saw that too! MiraCosta is pretty close to Grossmont in terms of NCLEX pass rates, and is closer to me! If I don't get into MiraCosta and it's between Palomar and Grossmont it will be a tough choice!

Does anyone know what the schedule has been for first semester for Grossmont or MiraCosta?
