I enrolled in the package price option and it occurred to me last night- what if I fail a test? Do I have to pay for another or is it included? Or is one try included and you pay for others?? Anyone else know?? THANKS!

From what I understand. You can take the test again without any additional charge.
Thanks NC girl RN!!

i am also in the package price option. yes we don't have to repay if we retake a test as long as you registered 4 exams max at a time. you can retake after 60 days, then if you fail again, you can retake after 120 days and 120 days there after. we have 4x total to try and pass each nursing exam, after that we get kicked out of the program.
i hope i do not have to retake any exams. how far are you with the exams? i have 5 more nursing exams left.

just curious to know if you guys use the epn on excelsior's site, too...i just got started, have finished health safety and i scheduled transitions and chronicity this morning, will do one in about 3 weeks and the other 2 weeks later. having a heck of a time keeping some balance between work and study time! and, as far as i know we are able to retake exams...and we don't have to have 4 scheduled at a time, that's the maximum we can have open at a time...as long as we finish the kit and kaboodle in the 1 year time frame, so there's no more added expense to the package (that's the goal, anyway). good luck guys!!!
I am really just starting. The EC Nsg Advisor said I should take the transitions class first- so that is what I am studying. I am using the larends and studygroup101 info- mostly the studygroup101 bc it seems better organized. Did you do the Transitions first?? How long do you study for each test Angel? I am hoping to be ready to take the test Nov 2 for Transitions and INFO LIT. I only need the Nsg classes and Im done.
is there any reason why the advisor told you to take the transitions first? they didn't tell me that. i still have to take hdls1, hdls2, hdls3, reproductive, transitions. i'm taking them in that order. then while waiting for the cpne, i will clep growth & development and take info literature. then the cpne beast!!!
i have both lisaarends and studygroup101. i really can't tell you how i studied as i am still finding out how to study for these tests. i took chronicity last friday, 9 days after enrolling. i only studied some sections using sg101 & my lpn book the night before and got a c. but make sure you always take the practice tests and try to study it and memorize them as some similar questions appear on the real exam.
i am trying to study hdls1. i have to study for this one because i am weak in cardio & cancer stuff. i scheduled it in less than 3 weeks. i will reschedule it if i do bad on the form b practice test. i shall see.
well, good luck to us ec students.

Transitions has typically been listed as the last exam -- it was always referred to as "Nursing Concepts 7" under the old curriculum, with the others being Nursing Concepts 1 through 6, but really you can take them in any order. It seems like some traditional programs do cover the Transitions material toward the beginning of the curriculum, not at the end. I took the old NC7 between the 4th and 5th exam.
I guess the only thing about that is that you can take the first three nursing exams without paying the enrollment fee, but if you're already enrolled, it doesn't really make a difference at this point.
joanne bosteel on the epn suggests transitions at the beginning so you can get an idea of what career choice you're making. it covers the nursing history and who carries what role in the nursing field and for some, who have never worked in nursing, or at least a short period, i guess this is a way of giving them an overview of what they are getting themselves into. i have also heard that it is dry and people like to get it over with at the beginning just to get it out of the way. the rest of the classes are all application, this one is just memorize and go on! good luck!
NC7 is Definintely DRY!! Not to mention so many organization acronyms!! I have no idea what order I will take the tests in....
Maybe a dumb question but what is CLEP? Is that for non-nursing courses?
I am so nervous about scheduling an exam, but I do think that I will feel better after the first test. I am using the same study guides as you are- the larends and studygroup101. LOTS of info and great practice exams....
3weeks til the next test!! GOOD LUCK!! Im sure you will do great!!
Yep -- http://www.collegeboard.com/clep -- I think that'll get you there. :) There are some things you can use CLEPs for to get general ed credits.
thanks Lunah- I will check it out... btw you are a pro here huh?!? LOL
