Hi all,
I noticed there wasn't a thread yet for the PLU ELMSN 2023 Cohort so I wanted to get one started. Has anyone else already been admitted into the program and accepted? I received my admittance email on Jan 27th and accepted yesterday! Excited to meet/chat with others who have applied and best of luck to everyone!
Best,
Ryan
@Rjmetzker I received my admittance email early February for Summer 2023 start. It is contingent on my current class, but I am almost done with that.
Hi @achoo,
Sorry for the late response! There are a few people that live in the area near campus, but I'll be honest with you, the only good thing I think could be said about the Parkland area is its proximity to campus. I live in the Olympia/Lacey area and most mornings my commute is around 30 min. It's a pretty quiet and residential area that's pretty conducive to family life.
If you're looking for something closer, I would maybe look in Edgewood (20 min from school), as there are a few more apartment places out there and it's in closer proximity to Tacoma and Seattle if you're looking for weekend fun in the city.
South Hill is also a nice little area and probably equal distance as Edgewood, but you'll be a bit more out in the country. There isn't really a good way to avoid commuting to clinicals unfortunately as some of those can really be out in the boonies haha! But it is what it is.
We're all pretty stoked to meet you! (my cohort that is). My email is up above, feel free to reach out if you have questions. I may take some time getting back to ya, but I'll respond.
Respect!
Zach
Cristae,
Find my email up in the thread and send me a message, I'll give you and Cassandra a low down.

@Cassandra Wilkinson, sorry I totally missed your comment, but congrats! Will you be joining the virtual meet and greet on Thursday? Looking forward to meeting you, and best of luck finish up your last prereq!

Hi all! ?
I applied for Summer 2023 in December but I still haven't received any notification of waitlist, admission or rejection. When I applied, I was starting one of the pre-req requirements (completed the course and sent my transcript last week). It seems like some of you have applied here before, when is the latest they make application decisions? The program starts so soon!
Congrats to you all on your acceptance!!
Hi @Ryleigh Gainey. I am not 100 percent positive how the process works, but I do know they will let people know up until late May if a spot is available. It is all based on people accepting their offer, finishing prerequisites, and the possibility of people dropping before the start. Good luck!

Hi Ryleigh,
Good luck with your application process. I hope you get in! The admissions office may take some time to review your transcript, but I would definitely be on them about it since the program starts May 30. Maybe call and check on the status. Are you currently living in WA or would you need to relocate?

I currently live in OR so I would need to relocate. I sent an email asking for an approximate timeline for an admission decision and they completely disregarded my question LOL. I'll probably try to reach out again this week, thank you!
Hi everyone,
I have decline to decline my acceptance at PLU because I did get into a school that was just closer to home! I was wondering if anyone knows how I can decline my offer (I accepted it a while back just in case I didn't get into other schools)?
I wish the best of luck to everyone else!
Thank you!

Hi,
Congratulations on getting into a school close to home! I am in a similar position as you. Waiting until I hear back from a Fall '23 program close to home, but accepted my place at PLU and paid the deposit just in case things didn't work out.
I called the SON at PLU and asked what would be the correct way to go about this. I suggest you call and notify them ASAP and say something along the lines of, "Thank you for the opportunity and for considering me for your program, but I was able to get into a school closer to home and I would like to withdraw my acceptance at PLU.” I would also email them the same thing and then follow up to make sure this is reflected on the student portal. Good luck to you!

I am really interested to know what a day to day looks like for the first semester/year of the program. Anyone with any insights?
