  1. Thank you! It looks like no classes on Wednesdays?
  2. I am really interested to know what a day to day looks like for the first semester/year of the program. Anyone with any insights?
  3. It really depends on the facility where you work. Some train you for EKG, or phlebotomy or both! Some won't let you do anything with EKG or phlebotomy if you have your CNA because it is completely outside your job description. Always check your job description.
  4. Sacred Heart, West Florida, and Baptist are the three main hospitals in the Pensacola area.
  5. Where I work RN's and Aides wear hunter green, pharmacy and lab wear tan or brown, housekeeping wears dark blues/navy.
  6. I work as a CNA at a hospital that often has nursing students for clinicals. A male patient had a male student nurse taking care of him. I was checking on all the patients on the hall as usual. I came into his room, asked him if he needed anything just in case something got missed, water etc. I asked him if he wanted a shower soon and he said sure, as long as his male student nurse had nothing to do with it. He wasn't kidding. I taped up his IV when the time came and that's all the help he needed, but still, he wouldn't let his male student nurse do it. The student nurse took care of everything else for the patient. I would count that as prejudice against the student nurse simply because he was a guy.
  7. I'll second that Kindred is a great starter. That's where I started working and there were a lot of great people that took the time to show me the ropes.
  8. Why not try working each one to see which one you prefer?
  9. Thank you! I got a job right away in Idaho, but here it's just not working! If I find anything out I'll keep you posted :)
  10. An answer would be very greatly appreciated as I don't know what's going on with these either! I just got reciprocity from Idaho to Florida and CEU is foreign to me. I am having a hard time finding a job here in Florida, could this be a reason?
  11. I have worked in LTC for 6 months and relocated to Florida. I'm having a hard time finding a job anywhere.
  12. I agree with everything Northernguy said. I only have a half of year experience, and especially when I first got hired I was always told what to do. But it never really stopped, because I was still the new kid on the block. I learned to be assertive and stand up for myself when it seemed I got the raw end of the deal. To some CNA's, I will always be the newbie and they treat me as such. But they taught me what they know, and we still got along. I just had to play to the pecking order.
  13. Well WSU Washington State University is in Pullman Washington. But their nursing school is in Spokane Washington. The Tri-Cities are near to Pullman. There are a lot of community college nursing programs in the Tri-Cities area, but none are 4 year universities.
  14. "wsu tricites" Do you mean WSU Tri-Cities? There is a nursing school there. I'm just trying to figure out what you mean.
  15. Congrats! That's awesome!
