Pacific Lutheran University PLU BSN

Published

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone applied to PLU for their BSN program for the upcoming year. Or if there are any PLU nursing students on the site.

PLU is my top choice, I would love to know the statistics for getting in and how it is. Thank you!

do you think that all of the accepted applicants were notified then? leaving the rest with letters of rejections that will be sent out next week?

Not sure. They said that they are continuing to notify people this week and next week. I would call them! Also, I have not received an email from PLU SON, in case you were wondering about that.

Have you applied anywhere else?

Okay, so I'm sitting here reading all of these and then they just STOPPED!!! Did you get in??? You can't leave us hanging!!

PLU has offered me a waitlist position, however the likelyhood of being accepted is VERY rare. And yes, I am upset, because they prefer PLU students versus transfers when it comes to acceptance.

I don't think they have a preference over current students vs. transfer students. I am a transfer student, as are most of the folks in my upcoming class. Did they tell you that they prefer current PLU students?:(

I got into the program. There is a good chance I'll be starting in the fall. I am definately in for the Spring 2009 program. I am very excited.

I have a few more questions on the elmsn program at plu. I wanted to know more if the fall and spring semester grades of my senior year would be equated in the gpa requirement, as the grades for the fall semester aren't available until mid-January of my senior year which is after the application due date. Therefore, only my spring of junior grades is equated in the gpa during the submission of the application. Also if students at this point are borderline of receiving a 3.0 gpa, would you accept a student but on a condition basis that they do fulfill a 3.0 gpa at the end of their graduation?

And does the admission look at the level of courses taken in the undergraduate work if the gpa is not in the upper percentile? Do they also consider other factors in determining admission? Lastly, are there any cases of students reapplying to the program and getting submitted? Do you recommend to continually reapply? What grades should you get on your pre-reqs?

Also, your experiences with the program in terms of being prepared for the NCLEX exam and surviving the course/work load. Also if you have any other suggestions? How was the interview process? How do you prepare for this? Who should write your letters of recommendations? Do you recommend shadowing a nurse practitioner? Please feel free to respond. Thank you.
