Pacific Lutheran University PLU BSN

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone applied to PLU for their BSN program for the upcoming year. Or if there are any PLU nursing students on the site.

PLU is my top choice, I would love to know the statistics for getting in and how it is. Thank you!

Good luck to you all! PLU was one of my first choice for school I wanted to go to. My husband graduated from there in 2003 so I wanted to as well. We ended up moving to Vancouver so I will be going to University of Portland School of Nursing. Congratulations to those that already heard back too!

RUBOR-

Congrats on your acceptance to UP SON!

Thank you! Goodluck PLU is an awesome school! I didn't read but do you go there currently?

No, I applied for their BSN program, so I should hear back soon! My fingers are crossed, and anxiously waiting!

hello!

I applied to PLU's BSN program for Fall 2008 and just got "the" phone call from the nursing school today, telling me I have been accepted. It brings me great joy to write this, as getting into nursing school has been very difficult! I have been rejected from UW Seattle's BSN program TWICE and also rejected from SPU. I am so excited that my dreams of becoming a nurse are going to come true-finally!

Good luck to the rest of you, and I will be thinking good thoughts for all.

Congratulations!!!!

Congrats on being accepted Mattsgirl! Looks like we'll be going to school together. I didn't get into UW either. But PLU is going to be great, plus much smaller.

Any news WANurse123? My fingers are crossed for you. It sounds like you still may find out later. The deadline for me to accept my admission was April 22nd. So they should know how many spaces they have left to fill now. Good luck. Keep us updated.

Congrats Allison! It will be great to meet you. I too, am crossing my fingers for WANurse 123...the road is long to get into a nursing program. I know I almost gave up at one point.

When did you apply to UW? I applied this year and last year. I cannot figure them out...the first year I applied I got through to the proctered essay, and this year I automatically got denied, even with overseas health experience and better grades. I guess I didn't fit into the demographic they were looking for.

Again, good luck to everyone.

Thanks for all the support..however, I have heard NOTHING, NADA...

For those of you who found out, do you know if they have sent out all notifications???

Did you just get phone calls from the director? Any emails? Letters?

Please let me know what to look forward too?

If you don't mind me asking..what were your GPAs?

WANurse123,

I know of someone that personally called PLU SON to find out about this. They were very nice and explained that NO notifications have been sent out. They will all be postmarked on April 30th for ALL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS. I'm not saying that these individuals were not notified, but according to the direct source....NOBODY knows. Personally, I wouldn't believe everything you read on here. Some people may have thought they were accepted and instead were just notified of being accepted into PLU, not the SON. Everyone is freaking out because of this particular forum. Feel free to call them and ask. From what I heard, they were very nice and understanding to the phone call. Since I started dealing with PLU, I have found them nothing but professional. I say that with a smile because some of these colleges or universities only care about your money and not about the individual. I haven't gotten that vibe from PLU and that is the reason why I will still attend there if I'm accepted into their BSN program or not.

Relax and give them time until the very last day of April. Hope to hear from you the 1st of May or shortly after. :yeah:

Mattsgirl, I only applied to UW this past year. I went to the proctored essay though. Guess that just didnt go so well! :) Who knows what they are looking for?

WANurse, the phone call I got was from the admissions person for the SON. I met her at an info session I went to in October. I agree with Lute2b that you still have plenty of time to find out. I think they are probably continuously letting people know because you don't know who will be declining the offers too. It has to be an ongoing process through April. If you want their word for it you could call them. I agree, they have been really great to work with. I sure did not have a 4.0, but I did have decent grades. I think it was a very well rounded look at the entire person they were going to accept. (Unlike some other schools that, in my opinion, are very into numbers)!

Good luck everyone! Did anyone apply to other schools that have heard back?

lute2b and WANurse123,

Just to clarify, I got admitted to PLU formally a month ago, and got a phone call from the director of PLU SON three days ago, informing me that I have been admitted to the nursing school. I haven't received anything via mail from PLU SON...they told me that written notification would be sent out to all applicants in about a week. As far as calling them, I would. They are very nice and helpful-unlike UW SON who wouldn't give me the time of day when I called them.

My grades are decent-certainly not a 4.0, but in general 3.6 transfer, with science gpa of 3.7. I think they do a comprehensive review; not sure though. I applied to the BSN program with no nursing experience, though I have other healthcare related experience.

Keep us posted.
