Hello,
Just wanted to check here if someone applied or got accepted to this new ABSN program of PLU launching in Fall22 or Spring23?
Martinlashanda said:I heard back 6 weeks after I applied. I just recently heard back. I re-sent my transcripts because my offer was contingent on me finishing 1 more pre-req so I sent proof that it was done. And stats like grades? And my experience is that I am an inpatient pharmacy technician. I have done this for the last 7 years. I was a CNA for 1 year before I started pharmacy.
I also just sent updated transcripts with one more prereq so I’m really hoping to hear back soon!
thanks for sharing your experience! Do you mind sharing your GPA as well?

How long did it take for you to hear back after you sent updated transcripts?
Hello, I am going to be in the Summer cohort. I have heard lots of information about the program professors having push back when helping students. I was wondering what anyone who has taken the first quarter has to say about it. I am on the FB page and have gotten some feedback just looking for a little more. Do you think you are getting a good education? I know that's hard to answer but its very expensive and I am hoping the cost is worth the education you get kind of thing.
Hey @wasoph I have not started the program yet but will be starting in May of this year (2023). There is a facebook group for this program and some people have made a discord group also. Honestly, from everything I have been told this is not a great program. If you have the option I would look at going directly to the Tacoma campus BSN program or somewhere else. I am kind of stuck with going to this program as timing does work out applying to anywhere else. I cannot speak for anyone in the program and I have been told it is doable. That being said if I could go back 4 months I would have applied to other programs and written this one off unless I was not accepted to another program.
Hi, im a second-semester student in the first cohort. My personal opinion is that the program is fine. It's hard, like nursing school is supposed to be. I find this above review inaccurate or unfair especially if you haven't experienced the program. Nursing schools, in general, are hard and a mess and I don't think our experience is unique based on the experiences of other friends in similar programs. The Tacoma BSN program has the same issues, and it's more of a systemic problem with nursing schools not being able to find teachers and proper clinical and ensure students have the support they need. If you got in congrats! and prepare to work hard don't complain or talk badly if you haven't even experienced the program yet. Thanks!

@seattlek I'm pretty sure @Jenln said she cannot speak for herself as she isn't in the program, however she HEARD bad things. There is nothing wrong with her stating those things. No need to be nasty. Have some grace. Everyone's experience is DIFFERENT. So to YOU it may be fine but to others it is not. That kind of nasty attitude is not representing nursing well. Please go back to nursing in civility, be kind to others and respect their responses and opinions!
In my own experience, Im currently in this program, I wouldn't recommend it at this time. I believe that starting a new program is always difficult because it has its kinks. However, everyone's experience will be different. Nursing school is hard yes, this is correct, there may be issues across the board in nursing programs, HOWEVER, this program right now is a hot mess. First cohort had very negative things to say about their experience and chose to just let it go, good for them. However, there are still issues and the issues this cohort is dealing with are different in some ways and similar in some ways as the first cohort, as things aren't always going to be the same. Not to mention some professors are the same, some are different. Our textbooks are different, etc.
We are trying to speak up not only for the rest of our journey here, but for the future cohorts as well. I'm hoping you all have a better journey because of the changes we are pushing for and way we are advocating.
Here are some positives,
-The campus is beautiful, everything is new
-Ally (clinical/lab coordinator) and Bronson (academic counselor) are AMAZING people. Treat them with kindness.
-Our cohort is absolutely amazing, I love the people in my cohort, we get along so well.
Some issues are,
-absence of professors, not responding to messages in the 24-48hr policy time. Some times it takes weeks.
-textbook being provider based
-textbook not matching exams
-grading of assignments not happening in timely manner
-No feedback on assignments in a timely manner
-no extra resources, all textbook based
-Communication issues with staff
And so on...
But we are fighting to change this.
*Again, take everything with a grain of salt we will ALL have different experiences. Do what is best for you and your life ♥️

I wrote it's my personal opinion. I wish you the best and sent this to leadership so they know this response was posted. Accusing me of being "nasty" is inappropriate given I simply stated that if you have not experienced the program do not say its bad. Accusing the first cohort of letting things go is not OK, we did a lot of advocating and went through a lot. We are tired, and trying our best.

You sent that to leadership? For what reason? That's totally fine, this is a public platform. I'm not being mean to you or doing anything to you. I honestly have no idea who you are and that's fine.
We were told by others in the first cohort to let it go and to move on, that is totally fine if some of you feel that way. I was not attacking you nor the first cohort. We are all here for the same end goal. Let's not attack each other. I personally felt as if your response was not kind to this person and was a little nasty Nasty meaning, rude. Maybe I should have used a different term?
I'm stressing how important it is to be kind and was expressing that JenLn was just saying what she heard and I felt you came at her sideways a bit. Again, everyone will have their own experiences. We are all tired, we are only a 4 months after y'all?! It's not that big of a deal.
Our cohort has some of the nicest people and we would never wish to talk down on you guys. I'm not putting anyone down, not you, not anyone, that's not my MO. I specifically said we need to be kind and respectful of others opinions. ♥️

I just sent my updated transcripts with one more prereq as well so really hoping to hear back soon!
Thanks for sharing your experience! Do you mind sharing your GPA as well?
