Pacific Lutheran University (BSN 2014)

Anyone applying for the Fall 2014 and/or Spring 2015 PLU BSN program? I'm putting my finishing touches on my application this week, and I'm very nervous. Love to exchange advice, encouragement, anxiety, and profiles with other applicants. :)

I will be completing my DTA in Spring at Tacoma Community College and currently have a 3.9 cumulative GPA and 4.0 in prereqs. Unfortunately, I do have a messy past from my first time attending a different college that is definitely coming back to haunt me at this point. Sigh. A family friend tried to ease my concerns by saying that PLU takes a holistic approach in considering applicants and they are most interested in the student you are now. *fingerscrossed* *deepbreaths*

Good luck to everyone! :)

Just found out they have filled all fall & spring seats. If I'm competitive, I will be put on their wait list & they pull from it between now & January. Does anyone know the history of how the wait list goes? She said they rack & stack the list, regardless of when you submitted the package, but their wait list is long & doesn't expect most to get in off the wait list. Are you told what your wait list # is? If/when you move up on the list?

I am on the wait list right now. We are not assigned a number on the list, it is based off of your criteria and the strength of your application. I hope you hear back from them soon!

So how do you judge your chances of getting in off the list? For example, I'm currently # 8 on UW's SoN list...so I know my chances are not that great to get in between now & September. :/

As far as I know, there is not a way to judge it. They said the amount of people that make it on off of the list varies- could be 1-30 people! So maybe you have a good chance at UW- congrats on making their wait list!

Thanks, I really wanted PLU because it's closer to home (we live in Puyallup) we're both active duty military with 2 young kids and I didn't want to travel to Seattle every day. But ya gotta make sacrifices to achieve your goals right? Who really needs sleep anyway, it's seriously over-rated ;) At this point, I just want to start school, wherever it may be! Congrats to you on PLU's waitlist, I hope we both can start school, somewhere lol. Have you applied anywhere else?

When I went to an ELMSN info session last year, I met a woman who got off the waitlist for the BSN program right before the semester. She said she got a phone call only a few days before the program started - literally like a three- or four-day turnaround between finding out and starting school. She was surprised, but happy, and I don't think she had any idea it was coming until she got the call.

Wow that's not a long turnover at all! I guess I will just plan for both outcomes and hope for the best! :) it can be very discouraging sometimes but I have to remember that I haven't been told no. I can still apply again next year (3rd times a charm right) ;) I will reach my goal of becoming a nurse someway, somehow. It may not be through PLU but everything happens for a reason :)

YAY!!!! I just got the letter in the mail that I was accepted!!!! Man, I'm still in shock D;

Congrats!!! Crazy how long it took to get a letter, that's so exciting! Are you fall or spring?

Well I got put on the Waitlist the end of June, so I was just accepted after the waitlist. I am Spring =]

That's awesome! Congrats!

Congrats on getting accepted naturallynicole! I'm starting in the spring also! I can't wait.

For those students on here that were accepted for Fall could you share with us about how much we are looking at spending on books? And other supplies we may need (example stethoscope). Just trying to prepare for the future!
