Hi! I wanted to start this forum for people applying to Pace University's ABSN program for the Spring 2021 session. Best of luck to all of us!

Because it is so accelerated, it is a lot of work, especially in the Summer semester. Since Mercy is 18 months, I assume it is more relaxed and spread out. I liked our program because I was able to get it done so quickly. Most of the professors were pretty good (there's always going to be some that aren't the best). The most frustrating thing about Pace was they weren't the best at communication throughout the year, but I can live with that if I can get a second bachelors degree in less than a year LOL.
I am so glad eventually I heard someone doing good in the program. I knew a girl who quit after the first semester. The other girl I knew from Mercy, she was accepted by Pace but went to Mercy since she knew couple students fail out from Pace 1 year program. I am very scared about Pace now. Do you work any part time? Do you need to take out private loan cover tuition? Do you live close to Pleasantville? Sorry that I have so many question, I am 34, I want to finish early. I am a B student. English is my second language, is there many writing? I am so sorry to bother you. You may busy studying now. I appreciate your sharing.

I'm doing really well in the program! I haven't worked at all, and they tell you not to. I do know a few people that worked part time especially first semester because you have the most free time. I live in Westchester, but there are people that commute from Queens, Long Island, etc. You'll probably be on campus at least 3 times a week. I think we started off with 87 students and we are down to around 75. If you put the work in, I think it's very doable. We had 2 papers first semester (very simple papers) and 2 last semester (also very simple). I don't know what the tuition is at Mercy but Pace is pretty expensive and most people had to take out loans. At Pace you have to have a specific average on your exams before they add in homework grades. So if passing is an 80, you need an 80 average before they add papers, assignments, etc. If you make below an 80 on an exam, the professors want to meet with you to try to help you.

I lived at Queens. Mercy is 59K for 18 months. So 3 times at campus and 1 day in clinical site correct? I am glad to know professors helps. I heard from the other girl, she fail one class in Pace, she did not get kick out, but she need to wait next year to make up that class. Exam is weekly correct? So you guys need to keep 80 at minimum before any extra credits. I can retake the exam if I did not get 80? I am alone in the U.S, I have no co-signer, that's why I worry about private loan. I really appreciate you spend time explain things to me. I only see 22 people in Pace University Spring 2022...I am thinking Pace is too hard so no one going???Glad to hear you say doable.

I think Pace is more expensive than that. I think first semester is 2 days of classes, 1 day of skills, and 1 day of psych clinical. Yes, if you fail a class you have to wait a year until the next cohort comes in. No you can't retake exam if you don't pass, but they try to help you so you do better on the next one. I heard pace had almost 2,000 applicants this year so I'm sure the cohort is full. They usually have online Q&As with Amma, you should try to go to one of those.

Hi, sorry, one more question. Are clinical sites could be in Jersey or Connecticut? That's way too far from new york... And I know we need to be in site by 7am....

They technically could be. I didn’t hear of anyone going to NJ. There were a couple people that had clinical in CT but they live there. They TRY to base your clinical sites off where you live. Doesn’t always work but they try.

Do you need to take HESI for Pediatric Care, Gerontological Care, Critical Care, Medical and Surgical Care, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Psychiatric Care, Maternal and Newborn Care, Community Care, Leadership/Management in Nursing? Then professor add the grade on top of the specific grade you told me before?
We don't take HESIs anymore. It's now Kaplan exams. You should have 2 first semester- fundamentals and psych. Second semester- pediatric, OB, pathophysiology/pharmacology (one exam for us), medical surgical. Third semester- community health, geriatrics, leadership, and evolution (critical care).
