Nothing for me yet either

We don't take HESIs anymore. It's now Kaplan exams. You should have 2 first semester- fundamentals and psych. Second semester- pediatric, OB, pathophysiology/pharmacology (one exam for us), medical surgical. Third semester- community health, geriatrics, leadership, and evolution (critical care).

Exams are multiple choice and select all that apply. There are group projects every semester

They technically could be. I didn’t hear of anyone going to NJ. There were a couple people that had clinical in CT but they live there. They TRY to base your clinical sites off where you live. Doesn’t always work but they try.

I think Pace is more expensive than that. I think first semester is 2 days of classes, 1 day of skills, and 1 day of psych clinical. Yes, if you fail a class you have to wait a year until the next cohort comes in. No you can't retake exam if you don't pass, but they try to help you so you do better on the next one. I heard pace had almost 2,000 applicants this year so I'm sure the cohort is full. They usually have online Q&As with Amma, you should try to go to one of those.

I'm doing really well in the program! I haven't worked at all, and they tell you not to. I do know a few people that worked part time especially first semester because you have the most free time. I live in Westchester, but there are people that commute from Queens, Long Island, etc. You'll probably be on campus at least 3 times a week. I think we started off with 87 students and we are down to around 75. If you put the work in, I think it's very doable. We had 2 papers first semester (very simple papers) and 2 last semester (also very simple). I don't know what the tuition is at Mercy but Pace is pretty expensive and most people had to take out loans. At Pace you have to have a specific average on your exams before they add in homework grades. So if passing is an 80, you need an 80 average before they add papers, assignments, etc. If you make below an 80 on an exam, the professors want to meet with you to try to help you.

Hi, I'm in the current cohort. I personally think the program is great considering it is 10.5 months. Because it is so accelerated, it is a lot of work, especially in the Summer semester. Since Mercy is 18 months, I assume it is more relaxed and spread out. I liked our program because I was able to get it done so quickly. Most of the professors were pretty good (there's always going to be some that aren't the best). The most frustrating thing about Pace was they weren't the best at communication throughout the year, but I can live with that if I can get a second bachelors degree in less than a year LOL.

@krismSo I am also waiting on NYU and Mercy, but I got into 2 other schools in Texas. I actually decided to go to Pace, mainly because the length of the program. I'm 28 so I'm trying to get it done as fast as possible. I would love to go to NYU if I got in, but I can't justify the cost compared to Pace (and Pace isn't cheap to begin with). Mercy is 18 months and that's just way too long for me. I don't know anything about Rutgers though. Just my thoughts!

@felicityrichie they asked what is something about you not in the application and what book have you read recently. I interviewed on a Tuesday morning at 9 am and got an email Wednesday around 630pm.

@Mkt1008 so my interview had six other prospective students in it. Ours lasted about an hour. The staff introduced themselves, we had 60 seconds to think of our answers, then 60 seconds to speak. They spent like 20 minutes explaining how expensive and how difficult the program is. Then at the end they allowed us to ask questions. I literally talked about liking to be outside since I moved to New York- hiking, biking, etc. I didn’t know what I was supposed to say and of course with my last name starting with a B, I went first. I was pretty surprised I got accepted honestly.

@NatalieNurse why do you say that?? I’m deciding between this program and a 16 month program in Texas right now. I appreciate any insight!!

@NNurse1995 so if you could go back, would you do the same program or would you do a different one that was maybe longer?

@Nursing247365 I was accepted and I actually have a pretty low overall GPA. I think mines 3.2? My prereq GPA is more like a 3.8 though. I was a biomedical sciences major. I’ve been working as a medical assistant for 5 years. Did a lot of mentoring in college and also went on a medical mission trip. I didn’t think I’d get accepted based on my GPA.
