Hi!

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ABSN program at Pace so we can go through this application process together!

anybody debating between pace and mount sinai?

I'm not sure which program I want to attend- each have their pros and cons.

Hey! I have been debating between both programs for a very long time.

Mount Sinai:

Pros: lower tuition than Pace, offers Scholarships, clinicals take place at Mount Sinai hospitals, program time length is great. Mount Sinai hospitals have a good reputation.

Cons: the new location in East Harlem is unfavorable and unsafe (if you Google the subway station near the school, you’ll find out a lot), and the commute (for me) is longer. There are some negative reviews on the Mount Sinai forum on this site.

Pace:

Pros: great location, program time length is short, commute (for me) is easier, high NCLEX passing rate, I heard there are great clinical placements.

Cons: high tuition, clinicals taking place in the tri-state area and they choose them for you (however, I hope after this pandemic ends, this changes), does not offer scholarships. Some negative reviews on this forum and past Pace ABSN forums.

There are both positive and negative reviews for both programs on this site. A nursing degree is a nursing degree no matter which program you graduate from, as long as you can pass the NCLEX. You still have the opportunity to hold the same positions as graduates from other colleges. I would suggest to go with what program is safer, faster, easier, and/or cheaper for you! Good luck.

Does anyone know where the clinical options are exactly?

New York is New York and where ever you go, you’ll find their little issues and all. If the hospital at East Harlem (which is mount Sinai) is as bad, I don’t think doctors and nurses would work there. You can find trouble in East Harlem as much as you’ll find in the Upper West Side, Battery Park, Brooklyn, Flushing. I just don’t see that as a reason to not attend school. Maybe is the Bronx in me. And also, if you are planning to work in New York City, where ever you work, you will find those type of people... like the ones from East Harlem. You’ll find it in Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, anywhere in New York City. Pace would send you anywhere they want to. You really won’t have a choice. It can be good or bad. At least amount Sinai have their own hospital. Consider that instead. Good luck!

Hi! For anyone trying to choose in between pace and Mount Sinai I may be able to offer some help! I’m not sure where exactly the mount Sinai nursing buildings are but I’ve worked in their hospital in East Harlem on 98-104th. I used to take the Q up and walk 5 avenues early in the morning and had no problem at all (& the 6 is closer). I actually liked the area, great coffee shops and quick bites to eat!

hope this helps!

Thank you my dear !

Hi Everyone,

I thought I’d come here and see if anyone else is in the same boat as me. I re- submitted my application mid-February and haven’t heard anything since. I reached out a few times and was told my application is under review. I reached out again this week and was told the same thing. Anyone else experiencing the same delay?

I gave up my seat today ( hard decision) , so hopefully someone on the waitlist hear back soon. CONGRATS to everyone again.
