Hi, I recently applied to take my boards in California. 10 years ago I got a wet wreck less that only shows up on my driving record but not my criminal background. I also owe back taxes but I'm on a non collecting status because I'm currently not working. Will this delay my app if so how long???

Owing taxes is not a crime- only not filing is a crime

BRNs review applicants with a criminal history (this would include your wet wreck and possibly your tax problems) on a case-by-case basis, so yes, your application will probably be delayed.
How long, I can't tell you. You could call/e-mail the BRN for an update on your application status.
Best of luck.

unfortunately the anwer is an astouding YES. CAliforni ISS Facing deloays becUSE OF BUDGET cuts any issue that holds up the background check will significantly lengthen processing time.
Kinda sorta. It is "reckless driving with alcohol." BAC is generally below .08 and a benevolent officer/prosecutor may gave you this instead of a DUI. It's less serious on your record than a DUI would be...now, how the CA BRN may see a wet wreck is an entirely different matter.
However, if you wet wreck again/get an actual DUI within 10 years, they'll treat that first wet wreck as a prior DUI, and now you go from something "not as bad" to having a record with 2 DUIs.

It will be 10 years in August since my wet and reckless so they said it would come off my driving record by then. I've sent all the paper work I was required to do I'm hoping it will speed things up.
I really hope my delay is no more then a mth

Unfortunately in some state if you owe taxes they will not issue licensure....I don't know if CA is one of those states. Good Luck!
I hate to say it, but the CA BRN is not the fastest moving of entities :/
Hoping any delay you get stuck with is minimal!

Your three letters of recommendations and if you can get a police report or a letter from police station or whoever it was that gave you your wet wreckless. Like for me it was highway patrol and it had been over ten years so I went to their office and they made me a letter stating they had nothing on my case because it had been so long. Make sure to send all this with your app so there's no delays. I didn't send the letter from the highway patrol office at first cause I didn't know so there was a little delay but not as bad as I thought. Thank God! Good luck!!! Hope it goes just as fast for you too.
