Well, I'm no expert on this, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that I have seen threads on here and job postings in the past for regular part-/full-time RPN positions at outpost hospitals...
Check the Bayshore website, I know they send nurses up north on contracts, but again not sure about RPNs. Good luck!!
PS
I noticed that you have 2 years experience...I know for the RNs they want you to have several years experience to do outpost nursing because you're essentially alone. Your assessment skills need to be better than top notch.
So I've heard a lot about outpost Nursing & the excellent experience nurses get flying out there, not to mention the great pay I've heard they receive. Are RPN's able to do this? and if so, where do I get more information about it?
Thanks in advance!
Hi, Yes there are outpost RPN jobs available since I am an RPN and just accepted a job in Moose Factory. Good Luck
You can northern nursing but not outpost nursing. RN's are hired because they work at an extended scope and usually there is minimal supervision by MD's... If u want northern nursing then look at the northern hospitals.. I spent a year in Attawapiskat and now I am in moose Factory.. Depending on your experience you may or may not learn something.. I have enjoyed my time in the North but there are issues as well..
Are you a Registered Practical Nurse or a Registered Psychiatric Nurse? If you are a practical nurse you can look into postings at the Rankin Inlet hospital, the Gjoa Haven Continuing Care Centre, or the Igloolik Continuing Care Centre. If you are a psych nurse then you can work as the mental health nurse in the communities, either through the Government of Nunavut or agency (Bayshore or Venture).
