Out of luck, came down with flu and have two interviews coming up!

Published

omg, this could only happen to me. luckly, i landed two job interviews (one for a major out of state hospital (methodist hosp, indiana, and one for a nursing home facility) tommorow i suppose to travel and see what is the methodist hospital about and talk to the managers i guess (i do prefer getting hired in the hospital for many different reasons such as longer training period, better pay, more learning opportunities blah, blah) and the day after tommorow i scheduled another interview with don of nursing home (kinda freaking about that one since heavy patient load seems to be a norm in nursing home, short period of orientation, either swim or sink kinda thing.wel anyway on top of all this i came down with flu and have to drive like 76 miles for an hospital interview..today i will try everything that is possible to restore my health (you know the whole nine yards-theraflu,chicken soup, warm blanket, bedrest) i really dont want to postpone the interview any longer (i'm broke as one can be,just basically tired of not doing anything constructive with my time, yep that's sums it ups although i am taking care of a sick animal at my home that needs a daily supervision-that is another story but it will have a major influence on choosing between two offers (granted i will get both) i cant do 3-11 and i hope, have my finger crossed that the nursing home wont ask me to work evening shifts (i even settle for the dreaded grave yard shift or morning lot more busier shifts, awrrrrrrrr!) another dillema of mine is granted i will get both offers which one should i choose...i really dont know since this will be my first nursing job...should i go for the out of state hospital, commute there 76 miles each way or settle for a nursing home that is like maybe 40 miles away from me...feedback appreciated i could really use it........

Your situation just sounds dreadful IMHO. Perhaps you're asking too much of yourself to drive 75 miles each way for a "great job." Can you relocate? Anyhow, good luck and speedy recovery!

Do you have a license in that other state?

No they told me I would have to apply for it if I get this gig...

First off, sorry to hear you're ill---hope you have a speedy recovery!

Secondly, you need to weigh the pros and cons: the commute should be a HUGE consideration, weather considerations(does it snow in that area much?),pay at both places, wear and tear on your vehicle with such a long commute, and whether the benefits of hospital nursing outweigh the risks/cons.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

I went to the out of state hospital and I landed a second interview that will take place next tuesday.....
