I was wondering if anyone is slotted to begin in May 2010? I was slotted for the winter but received a call today asking if I wanted to move up to the May start date, to which I said yes. I'm so excited to get going. Is there a facebook group or anything out there forming yet for students?
I would like to join if there is. I am nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time. I just want to get going to changing careers and be happy!

Hi, I interviewed earlier this week and it went very well. I came away impressed and more convinced this is where I want to go. Do you guys remember how long it took for decisions after you interviewed?? Since it's rolling, do they let people know along the way or do they wait till everyone interviews? I know I am part of a two week interview process but maybe I will know before they complete the two week's of interviews.
Good luck Firehawak & ShakeandBake. I have a friend starting in May 2010 as well.

Hi ejcl68,
Am new on here and interested in OU accelerated nursing program although I haven't started doing my prereq yet...Can u share your experience with the interview; like what is it based on, like type of questions...I've heard this interview stuff mention on this site a lot and just wondering if it is similar to a typical job interview.....
your response would be appreciated........
Hi Jon,
I would highly recommend going to the informational meeting(if you haven't done so already) which is really informative. Since you are just starting pre-reqs, I would advise getting a few pre-reqs under your belt before fully committing to nursing. The reason I say this is I know a few people who struggled with the chemistry and biology and decided not to pursue nursing. It's heavily into the sciences. My advice to you is to get A's in all 5 key pre-reqs which will set you up to be strong candidate. I know this is obvious but it's very competitive to get into the programs. Oakland is raising the min. GPA to 3.2 for those applying Sept 2010 or after.
Regarding the interview; yes, it is similar to a job interview. They want to be make sure you have what it takes to succeed in the program. They don't want someone who takes a seat and then drops out/fails/or just can't handle or is committed to the intensity. I have heard 4.0 students get denied because they interviewed poorly. So, it's important to understand why you want to be a nurse and how you plan to succeed in the program. These should be easy if this is truly what you want to do. I wish you the best. You are just starting so you have time to get all of your stuff prepared for the interview. Just concentrate on your classes and the interview will work out well (should be the least of your worries).
Good luck!!!

Hey Dave,
I will be starting In May also. I am finishing up my biology degree at Oakland and planning a wedding for April 24th, so things are a little crazy right now. I know there is a facebook group if you are interested, I think if you search OU Accelerated BSN 2010 you should find it. I am very excited and nervous to start the program, but I know it will be worth it! Hopefully I will get to say hi at orientation on tuesday. Congrats on everyone that has been accepted and good luck to those of you who are applying or waiting to get in!
