Totally off topic here but was wondering........
If you weren't an RN or LPN or etc.....
What other kind of job would you like to have in the medical field.
Wether it be Dialysis, Radiology, Lab, etc?
And what is the reasoning behind it?
Thanks!
Hi...
I actually am currently investigating the whole ultrasound tech thing as we speak. I have half of the classes already...r/t my nursing degree...and believe it or not.....a lot of them make the same or more than RN's. I think I might do it....nothing wrong with having two degrees...then maybe I could do nursing part time and us tech part time..... All I know is that as a nurse, I'm getting burnt out really fast....always nice to have another outlet....
Thanks for all your replys. I haven't really looked into nothing except RN and Radiology. Well kinda into Surgical Tech also.
I was just thought it would be a nice topic to have going. My heart is in Nursing. It always has been. But when I found out about the Long Wait here - Im beginning to wonder about other things that haver shorter programs. At the colleges around here, they're are students who have been waiting 3 years or more to get in.
I've even been offered a job at the Sheriffs Dept here. I really think that would be interesting. As a child - I always wanted to be a Doctor (I think it was really nursing...lol) or an Investigator.
Forensics Investigation is really interesting to me as well.
Hmmmm.... the daily decisions we must all deal with. LOL
Anyways, thanks for the great replys. Atleast you got to think more out of the Nursing and into other areas.
thanks!
After 2 vacations in South East Asia, I became a PA when nobody knew what they were...I gave it up, and many moons later, I am now an ARNP...I did not know then what I know now, and if I had to do it all over again, I should have just gone on to med school. But there is a reason for the way things turn out, and my recommendations to young kids today is to stay away from nursing, suck it up and go thru the grind of med school...if you don't want to spend the years as a student, than my recommendation is go to PA school.

I would probably enjoy doing echos ...I always like picking the brains of the 'scanners' and like to watch the ultrasounds, MRI's, etc...seems like an interesting job.
