OSU Grad Entry 2021

Published

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I am apply in August 2020 for Summer 2021! I am so very excited about this opportunity, as it will allow me to become a CNM in 3-4 years rather than 10-12 (ish) years (getting an ASN, 1-2 years to get into L&D as a nurse, 1-2 years of L&D experience/get BSN, and finally MSN program). I have huge dreams, but it all starts here. I am super nervous about admissions because I didn't do too amazing during my undergrad (I was young and just doing it to have a degree) and graduated with a 2.8. I did do pretty well with my graduate degree (3.8), so i am hoping that will help. I called and he said that not having a 3.0 in undergrad won't disqualify me. I have also gotten A's in each of the pre-reqs that I have taken so far (though I am taking pharm this semester).

I look forward to hearing feedback and also connect with other students who are applying this year as well.

@rula sweet. I know there isn't a lot of us. Well add on the FB group so we an connect :")

Just spoke with a program manager. All decisions have been made. The Data Manager then has to manually go through and enter for every applicant. Everyone should have an answer on buckeyelink by the end of the week.

It's about 10k a semester. 5 semesters for pre licensure and 5 semesters for post licensure. If you work for osu you get free tuition. This is in state tuition cost.

anyone know the out of state costs?

This is what I found but since most things have been virtual for student, I know for undergrads that were out of state they charged them the in-state price in 2020 not sure about this year and also not sure if that was extended to grad students

They didn't do it for grad students unfortunately. @rula

@rula yeah it is. Hahaha but you can get residency in 12 mths or try to get a job at OSU. I know that the above post said they don't pay for school but they do. I recently almost took a job there in the Laboratory and I have a bunch of friends that work there. They pay all tuition just not some fees which was about 1000 a semester. They did change there policy to only 6 credits covered but it made waves and the HR department told me they moved it back to 10 credits cover for grad school in the Summer. Hope that helps.

@Kimrhia and @rula yep! When I moved here for undergrad I actually held off going to school for a year so I could apply for residency, I also work for OSU currently and @Kimrhia is right it pissed a bunch of people off because in a lot of departments they suspended raises for last year and we just found out this year too ? I literally have the email were they were like ohhhh ummm nevermind LOL ? I took a class in Spring of last year it was already online and I paid $100 which was just for the distance learning fee but as of right now it’s they cover up to 10 credit hours but do not cover fees. I think it’s totally worth it and I for sure continue to try to work, 75% FTE (30 hrs) is the lowest amount you can work to get benefits which includes the tuition benefit.

Yeah I think I read on the admissions packet list thing that out of state students are charged an addition $1500 per credit hour ? And considering how many credit we have to take.... ouchie. I wonder if this schedule is manageable to work while in school? I though I read somewhere you'd have to work 30 hours a week to get tuition covered? That's a lot of hours

@mvc21 yep 30 hrs is the minimum to get tutorials benefits. I’m planning on working my normal 40 hrs for the Summer and then probably drop to 30 hrs. I work in a lab though so I do have down time and when I was taking classes I was able to work on school. I’ve talked to some others who are in the program now and they have all continued to work.

And here I am still stuck on Pending ?
