OSU Grad Entry Program 2020

Hello Everyone!

I am a starting a new thread for those applying for the Grad entry program at OSU this October for 200 entry. I am a super excited yet super nervous, I know the waiting process is tedious. I haven't applied yet, currently finishing up two pre-req courses. I am a Respiratory Therapist pursuing the FNP tract. Super excited for everyone.

Don't stress too much. Last year, acceptance emails/letters were not completely sent out until the beginning of March.

Hello everyone! I am finishing up pre--reqs and am seriously considering applying to OSU graduate entry to become an NP. I am weighing out whether I prefer to go for PA or NP currently. Is anyone else trying to decide this? Thanks

You all will more than likely take patho first. It’s a very trying 5 credit class. If y’all have the same instructors in the fall and you remember this, I can tell you the best way to study for each professor. There are three that teach patho. I passed the class with an A but over half the class did not. I think there were only 3 of us out of like 100 students. Several different cohorts were taking the class.

Hello, I got accepted to BSN-DNP psych specialty. I would really appreciate your study tips for patho. I know patho is one of the most difficult classes in the program so I want to be well prepared. I will be taking Patho this fall. Thank you in advance!

Hello all,

One more semester until applying! I just finished pharmacology with an A and have to take Micro this Summer. My plan is to start my application this month, specifically my personal statement because I will likely rewrite it 20 times. Can't wait until we get closer but I am also a littler nervous. Have submitted my application info and resume for this October’s admission for Summer 2021 start. I am going for psych NP specialty. I have my essay done, I’m just holding off on submitting it for final edits/touches. Have requested all my transcripts (I went to 7 undergrad schools so a lot of requests LOL) and asked all my recommenders for their letters.
 

Everyone who has read my essay says it is powerful and good. I just feel like, reading this thread and seeing other info online, how do they really decide? Everyone seems HELLA qualified and has experience, etc etc etc. Everyone who is applying IS already excellent. So we’re competing in such a tight space of excellence, it’s daunting to wonder what it could take to make the difference in someone else’s eyes. Someone who will never meet you, only read your words and will watch a recording of you. But really that’s maybe for the best, because I feel like sometimes an in person interview is judged too harshly. I have no idea how to prepare for the recorded interview. I’m reading everything I can about potential practice questions. I’ve got 15 days to finish all the pieces and it is hard because of the pressure. Thanks for reading this long rambling post. Any help appreciated

Hi Sarah,

At our orientation, the Dean (who is amazing, btw) told us every year how sad they were to turn away qualified applicants. That being said, your goal is to get in! The GPA is important. The essay is important. Your goals should match the program. Like if you want to do research on medical treatments, then this is not the degree for you. For the DNP, you identity a problem in practice, research EBP, put a change into effect and evaluate the results. Maybe you know all of that, but someone else mentioned earlier that you don't want to say you want to do clinical trials because then you won't be a good match for the program.

The interview was nerve wracking. But practice as much as you want (right before you can do some practice questions as many times as you want and watch your recordings). Of course, dress like it's a real interview and make sure your background looks nice. Lock away any pets! Do some power poses (watch this super helpful Youtube tedtalk by Amy Cuddy 

https://you). In the end, relax and just be yourself. Everyone here is very helpful and supportive. It is nothing like nursing school! Ha ha.

@buckeyekh hi I was wondering if you could give me some more insight on the neonatal specialty. I'm applied for the 2021 cycle, still waiting to hear if I got accepted. Very nervous as well for my results. Also is there a way to send private messaging so I may just as some specific questions on the specialty.
