I’d recommend following Ohio Nurse Practitioner and other groups on Facebook to stay in the know. They discuss day to day, employers, salaries, continuing Ed, job satisfaction, SB 177...

One friend of mine graduated a few years back and moved out of state, one person I know moved to a small town outside of Toledo, others graduated from the grad entry program this past spring and are still looking. They said most employers want experience as an NP. The graduate entry makes it more difficult without RN experience either. I’m also following a few boards for NPs nationally and in Ohio and cities like Columbus that have NP schools are highly saturated with not enough positions. Many NPs are getting offers for the same salary as an RN.

And is anyone nervous about job prospects after graduation? I’ve heard from almost every NP that the market is incredibly saturated, especially in Columbus and wages have been driven down significantly. I’ve also heard of job searches taking a year or more and having to move to find something.

I haven’t heard anything either aside from the same update email. So what is everyone’s background here? What brought you to the NP program?

From what I’ve read in the past few years, yes. It seems that rejections were sent early in some years (December), and some acceptances took until late February! What is everyone doing in the mean time? Did anyone else apply for the fellowships?
