OSHU Accelerated BSN to MSN Nurse-Midwifery 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi all,

I have seen GREAT threads for the 2011 and 2012 applicants and cohorts to OHSU's AccBacc to MSN programs, but cannot find one for 2013. Someone suggested we make one for the 2013 applicants, so here goes! This is for anyone who has applied, is interested in the program, and wants to chat together about interviews, how they went, applications, etc. I have just seen people posting for 2013 on several of the 2011 and 2012 boards and wanted to make a 2013 specific board.

I'll start!! My interview is on the 24th and I'm quite nervous!! Bought a nice pair of dress slacks and a button down, hoping that I do well, though I'm nervous.

I will post another question that I found on the 2012 blog about 2013-ers. Has anyone found a way to go through the faculty for the Midwifery program without searching the entire nursing faculty list alphabetically? Such as a short list for the CNM program faculty? It would be very helpful to be able to associate names with faces before the potluck so I'm not squinting at everyone's names on their nametags and looking silly!

fishe23a, you applied to CNM didn't you? I think UrineGoodHands and hannahzp are both talking about psych, and that's decided separately from CNM, isn't it?

I don't think they do that for the CNM program, right? In years past I have heard that you can be put on the waitlist, but they do not release waitlist ranking or probability of being offered acceptance. It's funny how different the individual programs are administratively.

Oh, good!! I thought UrineGoodHands had applied to CNM. You haven't heard anything yet, jpdx, have you? Or know of anyone else that has or has not?? I'm getting so antsy!

I'm getting so antsy too! I haven't heard anything. I do know of two people who were offered admission weeks ago (like very soon after the interviews), but I'm pretty sure there are still spots to give out. Definitely not time to give up hope yet.

Did you apply anywhere else?

Yeah I applied to psych

good luck, hannahzp! "highly likely" sounds like good odds!

"Highly likely" does sound quite good! I'd be hopeful, if I got a note like that, hannahzp. :)

jpdx - yes, I have applied to other programs, but because of the date that I took the gre, I wasn't able to apply to Yale or UCSF, both of which were schools on my list. However, these programs (like UIC) have fall or winter start dates, so their interview dates haven't even been announced yet, and they haven't notified applicants of interviews! So for the moment, this is the only school I'm "waiting on". It's my top choice but I know I'm young (23 only) and so if I don't get in, I can always find out what the midwives think I'd need to improve on, and then apply again next year after getting more experience. So I guess rejection isn't the end, if that's what's coming to me. :) Good luck with you!! I'll be thinking of us both as I wait!

Good luck to you too!! I know that in the end, we'll all end up wherever is most right for us.

Sorry for the stress - yes I applied to psych, not to worry CNM peeps. Congrats Hannah! Ill keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you!!

Hi everyone. I was admitted to CNM via phone call a few weeks ago. My official letter came on Saturday, so I know they are in the mail or will be soon. It breaks my heart to see people still waiting, I hope you get your answers soon. I'm sending you all good juju and warm thoughts. Hopefully we will be classmates! Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm a little older (34) and I've heard OHSU likes a few lines around the eyes :) Hang in there. You're already a star if you've made it to this point.

Congrats Hannah! If I were a betting woman, I'd be betting on you.

Congrats, kdrade! That is so exciting...I'm so glad that you heard so soon, and didn't have to suffer waiting! As March stretches on I'm thinking more and more that my letter is probably in the mail, but as a waitlist or rejection letter, and not acceptance. It makes me a little sad, but I have plenty of years ahead to try again. :) Congrats again!
