Hello! I was just called by M at OHSU and offered admission this morning...a little bit late to the cycle, I see, as I think other people were called around March 1st! I found the fb group but didn't know if I had to do something special to be accepted to it? Thanks!

I know of one person who got the acceptance call from M at OHSU at 9:45 am PST. Hoping others get a chance to hear today, too!

I applied for the 2013 application cycle. While people who were accepted in the first wave were called as early as the last week of February, those of us who were rejected (not waitlisted - I don't know about that) had to wait until the end of the first week of March (I think I found out around March 11th) via snail mail letter. It was excruciating to call admissions by March 1st and be told that "not all of the letters had been sent out yet", but knowing that some people had already been accepted. I am so much hoping this year that, no matter the format, no one is made to wait that long!

I called today to see if there was a ballpark estimate of when the interview day would be (for logistics...keeping positive about my chances!) and the receptionist, who was in a very good mood and very chatty, put me on hold to double check if anyone even had a rough estimate of when the day would be. She said she was very sorry to have to tell me that they didn't know yet, which also meant that they are not quite ready to release interview decisions, since a date has to be set for the interview day before they can do that. She did say, "Soon", but that really means nothing. So I guess we shouldn't be obsessively checking quite yet!

Not sure for ABSN only, but according to posters from last year, early decision applicants were notified of acceptance on December 13th. Regular applicants did not get notified until the shake-out from early decisions (some people still pull out even though it is "binding" and just lose their deposit), but I am not sure of that date. So there are a few weeks left before you should start stressing. :)

I am trying to get in touch with ---- at UPenn and am having serious problems...anyone else?? I have been calling the number from her emails and I know it's right because I get sent to voicemail for UPenn School of Nursing Admissions. But I called at least four times between noon and 5 pm last Friday and this Monday, Tuesday, Weds, and today...and no one has ever picked up! I emailed her and didn't get a response either...has anyone had a seriously hard time getting in touch to ask questions?

Many of the programs don't. Yale, for example, which has one of the top five midwifery programs in the country, considers their nursing school to be a graduate school only, and also does not offer a BSN. It's something I think programs will have to change, though...

I have spoken to a few midwives (applying for MEPN CNM/WHNP specialty) and the general hiring consensus at hospitals have been that having an MSN trumps not having a BSN. It is true that Magnet hospitals pretty much only hire RNs with BSNs and not associate's degrees, but if you are looking for per diem work as an RN during the Master's portion of the program, there is less of a problem if you are a competitive applicant looking to be hired at a non-Magnet hospital. That being said, UCSF Medical Center has achieved Magnet status as of 2012, so it's possible (though I think we'd have to talk to faculty and current students about this!) that actually getting a job as an RN at UCSF during the Master's years could be complicated. I don't know if they make exceptions due to the fact that you are a student in their own program which does not offer a BSN - but when I interviewed at other schools last year and specifically asked about lack of BSN, most faculty members did admit to me (albeit begrudgingly) that it can be difficult for non-BSN RNs to obtain part time work during the two Master's years of these similar MEPN-type programs due to lack of BSN status. Many things to weigh and consider, especially given the price of the program. I'd be willing to bet that applications to MEPN-type programs have decreased in number over the last couple of years especially due to issues like this. No one wants to pay $60K for an education that cannot be used to get them a job while they pursue graduate level education...

Thank you everyone! I did just speak to the MEPN contact person at UCSF. He said that unofficial copies are okay for screening but that to move ahead with the screening process, two official transcripts must be received. For anyone who submitted only one copy, he said not to bother with expedited transcript requests only because they did have some official proof of degree/prereqs taken. As for GRE scores - some people (myself included) were worried about theirs not showing up as "received" on their applications before submission even though they had ordered scores up to two weeks in advance. I discussed this with ---- and he said that it takes up to 15 business days for UCSF to receive GRE scores even though the GRE website states that online ordering results in GRE score sending in 5 business days. This is because UCSF uses a third-party company to receive their GRE scores, and they pay this company to have access to the scores and essentially "download" them, which they do not do daily because of the expense. So they receive their GRE scores "in batches" based on the date they choose to download. He said anyone whose application listed that they had not received scores at the time of submission should not be concerned unless UCSF still has not received them by the end of next week.

Hi all! A question about transcripts. I had both my undergrad and my prereq institutions send only 1 copy to UCSF because I didn't find requirements specifying a different number within the online application. However, last night, after I had submitted my app and was nervous that somehow everything was not in (ugh, anxiety!), I found this on the UCSF website: Transcripts: Official transcripts (two copies) showing your baccalaureate/bachelor's degree and completion of your prerequisite coursework must be submitted to the Nursing Student Affairs Office directly from the institution. Did everyone else submit two copies? I am feeling quite stupid at this moment...it takes over a week for transcript requests to be processed and resent!

Hi jpdx, I forgot to post this on Friday! I called just before admission closed on Friday, the 15th, and asked them if they had sent the waitlist and rejection letters yet for CNM. The receptionist told me that they had not yet sent them, but they were "working on it". So the earliest that they could have been sent out was Monday - I haven't called them since then to ask if they have been sent. I am sure that we will find out soon, though at this point I am not hopeful!
