  1. @garciwarsi, I live in Beaverton too. I've thought about moving closer to school but my man and I really like our place out here. How's the commute? Do you take the bus from Beaverton Transit Center? Thanks!
  2. Hi Heather, there's a user on a different forum who is a current OHSU ABSN student. She's been giving us some info the past few days. Maybe she could help you? Try searching OHSU ABSN 2013. Let me know if you can't find it. There's also a facebook page for admitted students- the link is also on the other thread. Congrats! Hope to see you at OHSU.
  3. @garciwarsi, thanks for posting. Would you mind telling us newcomers what your schedule was like the first couple of terms? It would be great if I could do a little planning ahead. Good luck to everyone waiting.
  4. Hey mcav, any word yet? This forum has been really quiet. Let me know if you get in. Are you in Portland? Are you considering other programs as well?
  5. Yay! Congrats Hannah! If you decide on OHSU, we should meet up for coffee prior to orientation. I would love to know someone else in the MSN program. Vanderbilt is also a great choice. I lived in Nashville briefly and really enjoyed it. If you go, be sure to try the tacos at The Local Taco in Sylvan Park. :)
  6. Acceptance deposits for CNM were due (postmarked) by today so I bet there's another round of letters going out soon. Any "declines" might open up room for more acceptances. Did you call admissions? I think it's perfectly reasonable to call and see if there's been any change to your status.
  7. Thanks fishe23a! If it is a waitlist letter, dont give up hope. I got waitlisted to two different schools last year and got in off the waitlist at both (ended up I was too broke to go). It made me so sad at the time but it all works out how its supposed to. You all are ridiculously accomplished already. When I was 23 I could barely feed myself! And I was too busy crying over boys to do anything productive. No way I would've scored an interview at OHSU. So, props to you however it ends up. Hopefully with an acceptance!
  8. Hi everyone. I was admitted to CNM via phone call a few weeks ago. My official letter came on Saturday, so I know they are in the mail or will be soon. It breaks my heart to see people still waiting, I hope you get your answers soon. I'm sending you all good juju and warm thoughts. Hopefully we will be classmates! Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm a little older (34) and I've heard OHSU likes a few lines around the eyes :) Hang in there. You're already a star if you've made it to this point. Congrats Hannah! If I were a betting woman, I'd be betting on you.
  9. Hi everyone! jpdx, congrats on your interview! I applied to OHSU for a number of reasons, but I especially like the small cohort and opportunity to do so many clinical hours in the faculty practice. I think it's pretty uncommon for a such a busy, well-established practice to allow students a lot of access. Other programs I've considered sort of "farm out" their midwifery students to other agencies (which can be good for getting a variety of experiences), but I'm personally looking for more of an apprenticeship model and OHSU has that. Also, OHSU is where it's at for waterbirth so we will be well-trained in that aspect. I have a feeling that waterbirth is going to catch on across the US in the next decade or so. Portland is one of the most progressive cities in the US which = a great environment for learning about midwifery and how to advocate for our convictions! Good luck ladies!
  10. I was told at the potluck that they were interviewing 36 for midwifery. Anyone else getting antsy? How did you feel about your interviews?
  11. Hi! Thanks for starting this thread. I applied for the AccBacc to MSN in nurse-midwifery as well, and will be interviewing on Friday. Fishe23a, do you know how many of us are interviewing? I look forward to meeting you at the potluck in a couple days. Good luck!
