OSCE REVISION for NMC REGISTRATION

I am Wency, a registered nurse in the Philippines. I recently passed the IELTS (8.5, 7,7,7) and the NMC part 1 competency test which is the CBT. Now, I am preparing for the final test which is the OSCE. I am currently in the United Kindom particularly in Lincolnshire, and I would like to ask you guys if you know a training agency in the UK that provides training or preparatory course for OSCE because I am not confident to take it yet for some reasons that the Uk healthcare system is different from the Philippines perhaps they have different approach in providing care to the patients and etc.

Tuition fee for intensive revision for OSCE is not a problem as long as I can enroll for revision.

I dont think so.The purpose is to have enough gap between tests to prepare yourself.

Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me if the wound dressing /care station is one of the skills stations or is it part of the APIE stations (implementation). I only have to resit the APIE as I passed skills and don't want to study for things unnecessarily. Any advise would be great!!!

Is it true that the second attempt to do the osce must be within 10 days from the 1st attempt?

No that's untrue, if fact it's unlikely that you'd find a date in the same month unless there were special circumstances

I am preparing for my OSCE while waiting for a date for it from the NMC, in the mean time I would like some advise on what preparation did you undergo and esp abt the skills stations, would you mind emailing me on [email protected]?

Hi Skys,

My advice would be, identify all skills that you'll be tested on - from the candidate handbook.

Then practice each one, videoing yourself as you go.

Mark your performance in accordance with Royal Marsden standard, including the interpersonal skills that you use.

When you feel that your anxiety when performing these skills (in a non- realistic set-up) is diminished, ask someone to observe you and assess - again using Marsden. Ask them for and be open to feedback

Anybody living in New Zealand awaiting to take the OSCE for UK in the next 2 months or so?

Hello everyone!

I am an Australian nurse and recently got an email saying I can now contact the University of Northampton to do my OSCE!

I have a copy of the Royal Marsden, are any other text books recommended?

Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am applying for registration as a mental health nurse rather then general registration and am not sure if this will make the OSCE different in what they will test.

Hello Guys ! I am in great need of help. I am very anxious and nervous regarding about my upcoming exam for OSCE this January .

I never been for this exam before and I don't know what to expect . I don't know what references I need to revise . I heard that theres a scripts for NMC Osce but I don't know where to avail it . I checked on gumtree but not available anymore . Does anyone have Scripts that they can share with me or any revision materials ?

Dear picachu12,

A script is unnecessary and a burden to recall. What is better is just yourself with your own interactions & decision making, with reference to Royal Marsden.

Preparing for the exam is helpful with others. Are you among other nurses due to take the OSCE?
