Orientation: What was your experience?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi! I know many of you will start a nursing program in the next few weeks if you have not done so already and I want to be sure to ask a few questions before you, understandably, drop off the face of the planet. ;)

I want to ask those of you who have been accepted into this Fall (2006) and have attended orientation, how did the orientation go? Did you find it helpful?

How do you feel about your instructors? Did you meet them all?

How did you feel sitting in the room among your fellow student nurses?

I am sure it is very exciting and nerve wracking as some of you have posted. I have not been accepted yet (I might be in a few months), so I do not have anything to share right now. In any case I wish you all the best of luck! :biggringi

My orientation is the day before class starts!!!!

I went to my orientation for this fall (starting in 10 days! WOOT) back in May. It was okay...nothing too exciting. We were talked to by students who were in the student nurses association for our school. They gave us a lot of information, took us on a tour of the building, raffled off some prizes, tried on uniforms... We had a few speakers from various state groups that were offering money for nursing education for those who commit to work in NV. Unfortunately, because our program runs through the summertime, there weren't many instructors available to meet. But, the student nurses association at our school is putting on a BBQ on the 27th, the day before school starts, which includes new & returning students and staff, so hopefully more faculty will show up then so I can meet some of them!

We had our orientation WAAAAAY back in March, and it was okay. The day before we had a huge blizzard, so the roads were really bad. I am pretty close, so it was okay for me, but there were a few students from out of town (one over 3 hours away) that had to drive on horrible roads in the middle of the week (so they had to get back for school/work). The thing was mandatory, so if someone couldn't come, they would move them to the next available class (2009), which was stupid cuz they didn't say anything that couldn't have been sent in a letter. They fed us not so great food, gave us a packet of info, and told us stuff that I promptly forgot and had to call later about anyway. Then it was over, and I didn't meet one person I didn't know. I felt like the whole thing was worthless, but a lot of what you guys did (like ordering uniforms and stuff) we are doing our first day, Monday. And I can't wait!!!!!

we had a tour of the school of nursing, we went through the clinical requirements, and rules of the school, we ended the orientation with a representative from the student nurses association giving advice about how to succed(sp?) in nursing school.

everyone was so tense, i think they were all just nervous about starting nursing school. my orientation was pretty uneventful.
