Hey guys,
Im super excited about the fact that my first orientation is in 17 days. I know its still kinda super far away but its exciting because once i do my online orientation then the clock starts ticking. Everything becomes real from here on out. I kinda have some idea of things that i am supposed to be getting done so I've been working on that already but i am just so excited to be getting started. Our first orientation is online and our in person orientation is in November. I'm sure by the time November hits i'm gonna be crazy lol but either way it goes i am still super excited right now.
Most people at my orientation wore business casual...or like what you'd wear to church. Most people wore dress pants and blouses. I saw a few dresses. One guy wore a gray suit and tie. I think it's better to be over dressed than underdressed.
I'm really trying to decide what to wear. When I emailed my program coordinator to ask, she said "normal clothes"... That does me no help. Normal clothes for me are comfy shorts or sweats and a t-shirt. I am NOT about to wear that to orientation. It's difficult. You want to make a good first impression, but you don't want to feel uncomfortable because you are over dressed or under dressed. Decisions, decisions.
Wow, I was sooooo not planning on slacks and blouse. I wasn't going to wear jeans, but khakis and a nice shirt and flats. Of course, we live in the country! So I will probably be dressed fairly average for my group. Hell, some people may show up in pajama bottoms or sweats, I see that in my school often.
I live in the country too...and Tennessee is HOT right now. I say wear what makes you feel comfortable. You want to make a good impression, but still look like YOU. My class is small; there's only 39 people. Khakis and a nice short is something I would wear to church..lol so it's still dressy to me! I wore gray dress pants, teal dress shirt, black cardigan, and black flats. I never where heels!!! Hate them. I was comfortable and felt appropriately dressed. I taught elementary school previously and this was just in my closet. Please don't where sweat pants or pjs! LOL

Yes, normal clothes to me are shorts and T-shirts or jeans and T-shirts. Oh and my daily question is, "What flip flops will I wear today?" That's why I say dressy casual or business casual. You CAN NOT go wrong I promise. You won't look overdressed! Don't stress yourself out!

Same in the Hampton Roads area! Almost everyone had on jeans a nice top/blouse. There were some t-shirts, summer dresses (tasteful), and the one male in our group (bless his heart) had on a polo and khakis. No sweats or pjs though. :)
