Organic/ Inorganic Chemistry

Published

Has anyone had inorganic or organic chemistry? I've heard that organic is EXTREMELY TOUGH..and I plan on taking it Spring or Summer semester for BSN core class!

Uggghhhhh, I took Organic Chem. for my undergard, BS in Ag. Science.

Actually, I should say I took it twice.

I feel for you. If you like Chem you will probably do ok.

Wow! Thanks for the quick response! I hope to take Organic at my current 2 year college if they offer it when I need it.

Man I'm really nervous now! lol I like chemistry fairly well, its certainly not my favorite subject ;)

How bad is Inorganic?

Don't know about Inorganic but I had to take Biochem and Molecular Biology. I made it through that one by the skin of my teeth. But, I by no means enjoy chemistry or am good at it in any way.

You should take inorganic chem before organic. I took organic when I was getting my first degree in Biology. Organic was tough for me. My school required that you take inorganic first before you could take organic. Organic chem alsmost made me quit school. Focus on concepts and mechanisms don't try memorize specific reaction. Good luck!

I took O-chem twice (yeah, that's how bad it was). It is a tough, tough course. Good luck.

Soon2be,

I'm confused. Have you taken General Chem I&II? Those are generally (as they should be) pre-req's for Organic Chemistry.

I would NOT recommend Organic Chemistry in a shortened summer semester. You need all the time of a regular semester for that sucker.

I agree with everyone else. I was a chem major, orgo made me switch to business. Now I'm hoping to jump back into the sciences and go for my BSN. Do not take a summer session of orgo unless you know the program first. You do'nt have to take inorganic first, they don't relate much, and it might help to take orgo first. I took orgo I and II and withdrew on the last day of orgo II, I was going to get a D in the class. That was my final draw! I understood the material but didn't test well. I was teaching my friend who got a B in teh class. Go figure. Good luck!
