Oregon Nursing Schools Application Cycle 2022

Published

Hi all,

I am applying for 6 Oregon nursing schools this year. Lane Community College (LCC), Oregon Health and Science University Ashland (OHSU), Umpqua Community College (UCC), Mt Hood Community College (MHCC), Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC), and George Fox University.

Anyone else applying to any of these schools? Last year I was waitlisted at Ashland OHSU and rejected from LCC. I have a 4.0 GPA, volunteer experience, 3 years CNA work experience, leadership experience, two associates degrees, and Spanish as a second language. Good luck out there everyone!

These schools in Oregon are no joke with how competitive they are!

How did everyone feel who did the OHSU Ashland interview? I have to say I loved the process this year compared to last year! An essay plus an interview was far more stressful than an interview where I get to review the questions ahead of time.
last year Ashland sent out notification of my waitlist position on Friday April 9th so I am thinking I’ll know my results by the 15th this year at the latest! Maybe as early as the 8th.
good luck to everyone going through this nerve wracking process!

I felt good about the interview, however I felt awesome last year & was an alternate. My guess is Friday April 8th we’ll receive the decision! Good luck to you both!

Hi there! Did anyone apply to Clackamas Community College this go around? Has anyone heard back from this school yet? Thanks!

Hi! Just curious if anyone has taken a HRST exam before? How did it go?? I am not finding much information on Google about how to prepare for it! Thanks!

Hey all, kinda late in the game here as I just came across this site. I applied to 6 schools within a 50 mile radius and got past the 1st rounds at all 6 schools. Did the essay at Mt Hood (my 3rd pick if I get offered a seat) and now waiting. Did the Kaplan test at Chemeketa, now waiting. Did the HSRT at PCC (my 2nd pick if I get offered a seat), now waiting. I'm waiting to hear back from Clark but I don't think I'll get any further with them as I didn't go to their school and my points were on the low side. I waiting to hear back from Linn Benton. I have an interview set up May 19 with Clackamas (which is my first pick if I get offered a seat). Anyone have any tips for the interview at Clackamas? I'm pretty nervous about it. Someone mentioned fiverr, I'm not familiar with that platform. Do you just hire someone to interview you? Is this person a nursing admissions rep? Good luck to everyone!!

Hi, that was me who mentioned Fiverr. I used it and hired someone to interview me. She wasn’t specific to nursing but she had experience with Med school students and gave me a really helpful list of questions to work on after the interview. Along with giving me a lot of really helpful advice on topics to avoid, make sure to mention, etc. she helped me develop a good list of strengths and weaknesses that were true to myself. It was $70 or so for one session and in my mind well worth it. So far I have been accepted to every school I have applied for! Including OHSU.
good luck!
