OHSU BSN, Fall 2022
You could go back through your A&P and refresh on the systems. That will help you. My school gave us a free optional refresher course to work on over the Summer if we want to. If you’re insistent on taking classes this Summer, talk to your school’s advisors for advice. I personally will be spending my Summer taking the classes “Sleep,” “lake days,” and “travel.” It’s a full time course load. ?

You could probably get enrolled in a university and do some upper division elective credits but I would just enjoy my last Summer of sanity! ? especially if you will be getting FAFSA, saving those classes to do alongside nursing classes will be good. There will be terms where your credit load doesn’t come out to full time with just the nursing classes.

Oregon Nursing Schools Application Cycle 2022
Hi, that was me who mentioned Fiverr. I used it and hired someone to interview me. She wasn’t specific to nursing but she had experience with Med school students and gave me a really helpful list of questions to work on after the interview. Along with giving me a lot of really helpful advice on topics to avoid, make sure to mention, etc. she helped me develop a good list of strengths and weaknesses that were true to myself. It was $70 or so for one session and in my mind well worth it. So far I have been accepted to every school I have applied for! Including OHSU. good luck!

I just got my email!! I was accepted into the Ashland fall cohort!! OHSU isn’t my top pick because of location and cost but this is so monumental for me! Regardless of what happens with my other schools, now I know I’m for sure going to nursing school this fall ?? after 3 years of applying and preparing for this moment.

Yes I hope I end up with options but I just want to get in to ANY of my schools ?? The cost compared to OHSU (assuming you complete the OCNE BSN after UCC to have an equivalent degree) is ~$24k less. It’s a huge factor for me, since I am heavily reliant on financial aid and scholarships. I hope you get what you want the most when it comes down to it. I went ahead and set my email notifications to alert as a banner without a preview so I don’t have to obsessively refresh the app anymore. It was getting bad ??? Then when I see its come through I can mentally prepare myself before I open it.

I also did the essays for UCC! I really enjoyed the process for their school. Even over OHSU it’s actually my top pick for schools based on many factors such as cost, location, and culture.. The faculty has been nothing but amazing every time I’ve interacted with them and I really want to go to a school that cares about my success. other than UCC I applied to OHSU Ashland, lane CC, Mt Hood CC, and SWOCC. Earliest I’ll find out after OHSU is LCC on April 21st and latest is end of June for SWOCC. I love that there are schools that don’t do a phase 2. That must be a lot less stressful. I didn’t want to do the TEAS exam because I’m terrible at standardized tests so I didn’t apply to a lot of the schools I could have.

This is such great advice! I listened to this podcast on Spotify called “233: 5 Medical School Interview Questions and How to Answer Them” which really eased my anxiety. It’s not a med school interview but there is definitely a lot of overlap in the advice they give on what they are looking for in a nursing student. The visualizing and treating it like a conversation with a professor is also a great strategy! I had a bullet point list made ahead of time of things I wanted to cover and I asked in the waiting room if it was okay for me to have my notes just to cover all of my bases. I made sure to talk about my love for collaborating with my peers via study groups, tutoring, etc to get them to really visualize me as one of their nursing students. I also had some questions ready at the end that got them talking about aspects of their program for 10+ mins. I used all 35 mins of my time but I never went so far over on time for one question that they had to stop me. Good luck! I just hope what I said was enough. Now we wait!

How did everyone feel who did the OHSU Ashland interview? I have to say I loved the process this year compared to last year! An essay plus an interview was far more stressful than an interview where I get to review the questions ahead of time. last year Ashland sent out notification of my waitlist position on Friday April 9th so I am thinking I’ll know my results by the 15th this year at the latest! Maybe as early as the 8th. good luck to everyone going through this nerve wracking process!
