Starting a thread for any others applying to OHSU's ABSN-DNP programs!

I did it today! For me it was worth doing the practice session several times to get comfortable talking to the camera (though the practice questions aren't at all similar) - I also read through all my essays out loud before starting to get in the right mindset and get the juices flowing. In essence, they'll ask a question, you have a little time to prep, and then it starts recording you. I Googled "Kira interview nursing school" and read through some lists of questions to get an idea of the types of questions they might ask.

Ah this is all super helpful! Thank you so much. I'm going to do mine today. I had a similar style one-way interview for UPenn's application so I'll review those materials too.

Have you had your DNP interview with faculty yet?

OK, according to my interview with DNP faculty today, they expect to release decisions (for ABSN-DNP CNM, unsure about other specialities) around the 2nd week of February!

I am curious if anyone else here applied to both ABSN and ABSN-DNP programs? I submitted my ABSN very early, but waited to submit for the ABSN-FNP until the 1/5 deadline because I was still deciding on whether I was ready for the full time commitment yet. Does anyone have insight whether they might accept into ABSN but not ABSN-FNP? I am excited about the possibility of getting into the FNP program too, though life logistics are trickier. Did I shoot myself in the foot applying to both?

Hi,

I also applied to the FNP DNP program but not the ABSN program. I applied pretty late towards the deadline as well. I would be interested in their ABSN program just in case I don't get into the FNP DNP program but we'll see how this cycle goes. Did you hear anything back from both programs? I wish us both luck this cycle!

Curious if anyone has heard about interviews yet? I saw some people earlier in the thread have already interviewed?

I already interviewed because I applied for the 11/1 deadline - got an email inviting me to interview at the beginning of December - did the interview at beginning of January.

I'm not sure what the timeline is if you applied for the January deadline! It's worth emailing admissions to ask if you're anxious🙂

So there was an early admission deadline for the ABSN to DNP after all?! Hrmph!! I thought I had seen that at some point early on when gathering materials for my application, but when I was finalizing and submitting my ABSN (only) application back in October I could not find it again. I was mostly ready to submit, but still needed to write my main essay. Once I saw there was no early consideration deadline (or so I thought), I gave myself grace to get it done later.

Have you heard anything back yet? Best of luck!

I have yet to hear anything back but I got an email stating they will send out interview invites late January/early February for the ABSN to dnp FNP program. I think the other people that got invited to interview is for the ABSN to dnp midwife program and they had different deadlines. I'll keep you guys updated if I hear anything. Good luck y'all!

I remember they mentioned in the info session that (at least for ABSN-DNP CNM) there's no difference between applying for the earlier deadline except for an earlier interview, as in it doesn't decrease your chance of admission if you applied for the later deadline. So hopefully there's little effect on your chances!

I haven't heard anything since my interview. They estimated that decisions would go out around the second week of February. Time is dragging, LOL.
