Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) BSN 2024

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Pre-Nursing student that is really just not feeling good about the fact that it is now Friday and we were expected to receive notice whether we would get an interview or not yesterday. Is this just a sign that I can accept at this point that I'm not going to be offered an interview?

I applied with the minimum of 30 credits for the three year BSN at Ashland, fall 2024 start date. I currently have a 3.9 NursingCAS GPA but was 4.0 when my app was verified. I got a B in anatomy this term, but it isn't 'verified' by NursingCAS since OHSU confirmed it is not actually necessary to submit updated transcripts for courses completed after the deadline. I'm an MA with seven years of healthcare experience. I thought it did pretty well on my essays.

I just can't cope with not hearing anything at all when they basically set the date of when we would hear from them. I don't know where else to go to talk about this, so any insight, commiseration, or general musings would be highly appreciated.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I really wish they sent out an email if you did not receive an interview. I did receive an email with an invitation to interview for the Monmouth location on Thursday. Not sure if they send out different locations at different times but I hope this helps.

Woah, you rock just for replying regardless of campus! I automatically feel better LOL.
It appears La Grande sent out their campus invites, according to another poster on this thread. I have seen zilch from Ashland, Klamath, or Portland applicants yet, but I suspect I will know more Monday. If I don't get an interview this time, that is okay, it's just more time to work on strengthening my app.

And, of course, congrats on your interview and hard work.  Very best of luck to you!

Thank you! I am both excited and nervous, I'm not 100% sure what to expect as I was unable to do the mock interviews. I've been hoping more people would be posting on here so I could connect with others in the same position! Good luck to you.

I recall them mentioning Johnson&Johnson and recommending visiting their site. They've been supportive of the nursing field for a long time, so there is maybe good info to draw from there in terms of evidence-based practice and philosophy?

they also mentioned it is good to really have a good handle on your personal mission as a nurse, what patient populations you are wanting to work with, and, of course, the standard in-depth understanding of OHSU's mission.

The mock questions asked in my breakout group were:

1.) why do you want to be a nurse?

2.) Why OHSU?

3.) What strengths do you bring to OHSU and the field of nursing?

4.) What personal opportunities for growth do you hope to develop if admitted to OHSU?

5.) Talk about a conflict you had with a classmate or coworker and how did you handle it?

6.) Talk about a time you had to adapt your ways to a new situation.

7.) Talk about a time you had to work through a project or problem with little to no guidance.

again, best of luck. I hope the same for me as I have heard nothing, so it is still ever so slightly possible I could hear something Monday!

Hello!
I am curious to how many people applied for the La, Grande campus? Comment if you applied for La,Grande!
