Opt / Cpt

I'm RN doing my optical practical tranning (OPT). i'll go back to school to get my BSN soon. Can I ask for CPT while I'm full time student doing my BSN? Can I work for up to 20 hours with CPT? After graduating with BSN can I request OPT again?

Depends on what level of the training that you are expecting to use the OPT for at this time. If it is for a bachelor's degree, then getting the BSN will not get you another OPT.

You need to meet the requirements for the CPT in order to be able to work at all while in school, it is not something that you automatically get as soon as you start your program. Same rules apply that you needed to comply with for this OPT.

Please be aware that with the retrogression in place and the number of applicants far outweighing the number of visas available, even with getting the BSN, there is no guarantee that you will be able to remain in the US to work when it is done.

You should be able to get all information from your International student adviser

There are quite a few, you can start by reading the requirements on the website for the BON that you are interested in. It goes over all of the requirements for licensure as an Advanced Practice RN.

And as Anna has mentioned, this is something that should have been discussed with your with your international advisor when you started your program.
