Opinions on Husson University for FNP

Published

Hello!

I am starting Husson University online for my FNP on May 11th. I have done research for months on different programs, and Husson doesn't have too many reviews; however, the ones they do have are excellent. Tuition is very affordable ($600 some a credit). They are located in Maine, and there are 2 on campus requirements. You have to attend twice for hands on "immersion" experience. Their program looks really good and I am excited to start. They do not find your clinicals for you, but they have a clinical coordinator that can assist you if need be. I will have a year before I begin clinicals so I figure that gives me enough time to look. Anyone have any thoughts on this school?

Thank you!

I am thinking about starting FNP this Fall semester 2020

How is the program? I am thinking of applying.

I spoke to school FNP program alumni, she really enjoy the program, a lot of busy work, but they give really good base for future NP. They do not place students with preceptor, so you would have to look for them your self. This girl used services where she had to pay $12 for every clinical hour, it was expensive but she had to do it, due to covid it was no clinicals.

I'm 2 semesters done now, about to start my 3rd semester. Im doing great and I'm still in the "busy work" portion. However, I really like the program setup. Fall of 2021 I start clinicals. I'll be done Summer 2022.

Do you have any advice's for new students? Did you purchase all books new with video/codes (Health assessment bates book with video is almost $300)

I'm taking health assessment in Spring..my upcoming semester. I prob will buy it new with codes bc thats one of those big deal classes. I didn't use my other books much at all so far...except pharm. Patho, pharm and health assessment are the 3 that I plan on buying new and keeping.

I discover today how to save $120 , get older bates book with CD, cd contain the same video's as on website , my friend and I was watching website and video on cd to make sure they are different  or the same ,we are helf way through , people on video is different but technique is the same.

P.s I believe new students who is starting in Spring 2021 would take NU 704 and NU 706 which is health assessment and something about culture.

I am scared about taking pharm even so I have picmonic, osmosis membership and Hollier cards  a long with bunch of FNP review books Kaplan Leik, Hollier, Barkley Fritzgerals, walden, and few more review from facebook group (do not remember their names)

I am in my 3rd semester and thinking about possibility to transfer to different school due to new policy, which req all exam has to be supervised, so every 2 - 3 weeks we have to take entire day of work, sometime it is Tuesday and Friday or Monday and Wednsay, the do it, so people would not cheat, but they also taking away flexibility with online classess.

There are some changes that occurred last semester, all exams are monitored now, so there is no longer a work/school balance. We are expected to take time off to take exams, and if you prefer to take exams in the morning, too bad they are offered after lunch.

Oh, I wish someone would tell me about this before I choose this school.
