I got some info in the mail about a joint OB neonatal conference in vegas held by contemporary forums.
Has anyone ever been to a conference held by them? Heard anything good/bad?
Im super interested in the preconference neo-pathology and wanted to get opinions before I set things in stone.- thanks

I have heard good things about Cont forums conferences. I think they are good for new nicu RNs but many seasoned RNs complain that every yr they are recycled topics.

I've been to some of them and enjoyed them. One thing I liked about them was that at the end of the morning sessions when there had been 3 or 4 speakers we would all take a little break and during the break we could write questions down on a sheet of paper and pass them down to the center isle where some of the workers would pick them up and ask them in an anonymous way to the speakers as they all sat up on the podium together. Lots of interesting discussion would go on between them which I found very informative and interesting. They were very well organized too. I'll attend some more for sure.
As to the comment about topics being "recycled", I find that this is true of all the conferences I attend whether they are NANN, ANN or Contemporary Forums or any others put on by local hospitals, etc. There is usually something new or a new speaker to hear though and I've not been disappointed. I loved the CF conference on Developmental Care they held in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. By the way, if you ever get a chance to hear Howard Stein, MD speak, be sure to attend. He is awesome!! So is Susan Luddington-Hoe...

I went to an Advanced Pharm conference in Vegas in 2006 and it was very good - organized and to the point.

If anyone's looking for a slightly more advanced neonatal conference, check out the Florida Association of NNP's annual conference in Florida every October.
I went as a third year NNP student and loved it. Not only was it 28-30 CEUS, but the "B" track was wonderful. It consisted entirely of system by system review, assessment and management for nearly 4 days. This was in addition to general sessions, and lots of beach time :)
Florida Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (FANNP)
Glad to hear you say that Steve because I have always heard absolutely wonderful reports on the FANNP conferences. Maybe I can try to go next year...
