Hello-
I'm looking to work for All Children's Hospital in Saint Petersburg, but I would like your opinion if you currently work there/have worked there. If you could reply with any information, the good the bad and the ugly, I'd appreciate it.

I have had my clinical rotation down there, and actually liked it. I think it's a good place to work.

Hi,
I have worked as a nurse at All Childrens for over 18 years and can not imagine working anywhere else. I absolutely love it! Yes, I have days when I wonder why I ever got out of bed, but doesn't everyone? I 'd lots rather have those days here than any other place. The other employees are a friendly, caring bunch and the patients are incredible. I happen to work in the NICU, but I know many of the floor nuses as well, and most of them feel the same. I have also worked at other area hospitals prior to coming here & can't believe the difference in atmosphere! The work is still very hard, but working with babies & children (and their families) is a special kind of reward in itself.
Both of my own children were patients here many years ago and believe it or not, they each begged to please stay "just one more day" when it was time to go home. What kind of endorsement is that for some place that makes you feel good, even when you feel bad?
You may already know, but we have just broken ground for our new hospital, which we expect to be open in 2009. We are truly bursting at the seams and much in need of the additional space. Lack of space does seem to be a major problem, but we are doing our best to be creative with the limited space we have.
I'm not really sure what our starting pay is, but HR claims that we are competitive. I have been so happy here, that I have recruited my daughter & niece, who both still work here.
If you are offered a job here I would by all means encourage you to accept it!

Hi there-I have hopefully my last interview tomorrow at lunch over the phone with HR. I have done 2 interviews with the hiring department and then I do the phone interview and unfortunately, it really comes down to pay. I love everything else about the benefits, but I really need a good income for when I'm in school. I have a beautiful 2 year old that claims at least 5k in daycare a year....so you know how that goes. Anyhow, I really hope this all works out. I live in New Port Richey right now and I will have to commute down the veterans (which is only 30 min-unbelievable) so we'll see. Thanks for the feedback. I'll let you know what happens.
I'll be thinking of you. Good Luck!!

My best friend had gone there for most of his childhood life. He suffered CF (Cystic Fibrosis) - i think thats how you spell it. They were always wonderful, always had the best people there from our expirence. We have been friends for ever and I have been there many times to visit. They always had entertainment for the kids and was always taken care of. My friend now is 20yrs old healthy with a transplant lung from Shans hospital in Gainesville. He is now a supervisor at a best buy in tampa and just got a new girlfriend. He is the Best, and I cant tell you how many times the nurses told me there how important my job as his best bud was, gave him hope and reasons to live. If I ever won the lotto, I would def give some to All Childrens!
Well I had my THIRD interview there yesterday, with HR, went over all the benefits, hours, pto...etc.....she has to verify background check and then references and hopefully within a week I will have an offer to make a decision on. See, what your friend experienced is exactly what I want to offer children, and their families as a nurse. That is what I believe in. Pray for me that I get this job, I feel like my future looks very optimistic if I get this job.

Congratulations!
I hope you hear back from HR soon. If you wouldn't mind could you please elaborate on the salary, benefits and PTO they offered you. I hope to move down there soon!
Thanks
Just wanted to share with everyone I was offered the job last night (contingent upon drug test and references, which is easily done). I'm very excited. This isn't for a nursing position even thought I am going to nursing school, it is to assist with the physician access line. The bene's are awesome, you can look online at www.allkids.org. Also, the pto isn't gone over on that, but it is for every 10 hours you work, you get 1 hour of pto, so that is basically 1 day per pay period (not including overtime worked). So there are huge advantages....401k AND a pension plan. Good luck to you if you move!! And thanks to everyone for their support.

I want to work at ACH'S NICU SOOOOOO bad. I am a pre nursing student and my school does clinicals there. I want to get in sooo bad. My twins sis has had 2 pulmonary valve replacemetns there. So I basiaclly know everyone in cardio. Dr. Martinez, Dr, Henry, Dy Jacobs and Dr. Giroud. They have known me since I was 8 moths old. How can you get into the program at ACH? Can I get recomendations? Would that even help?
