I worked as a nurse extern for a year @ tmh while I was in nursing school. (MSICU) great hospital! Even though Capitol regional medical center pays more, it sux there. People seem to simply care more @ tmh. If I had stayed in tally after school I would have worked @ tmh.
  2. In FL it takes about 2 days. Mine posted in 36hrs online.
  3. I will be graduating in I have noticed looking at ICU jobs they require much more than I have to offer. I am curious how to get 2-3yrs ICU experience when I cant get in the ICU in the first place. -Will hospitals hire newgrads into ICU? -Does the 1yr in MSICU count for anything if its not experience as an RN? Thanks
  4. Thanks for your reply, it really helped. I found that law on the state board FL for nursing site. LINK So does that say that the dr has to be at the location of practice? or can he just show up like once a week to approve it? Who does dr report to to say I am skilled enough to practice? Thanks again!
  5. I was wondering, if a nurse wanted to open a private practice office for say like... tattoo removal. What level education would they need to operate legally within USA (FL) - if possible. If not, can nurses open any type of private practice?
  6. Has anybody ever worked for Delray Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL? I heard one person say they were good for new grads, and their website is amazing. I live in tallahassee and cant visit the H myself. Any info helps. Thanks!!
  7. I am in the middle of my RN school. I have a part time (flex) job at the local hospial as a extern in a med/surg ICU. Previous of my nursing school I've had no expirence in any medical area. I would def recomend a RELATED job if you are going to work. I work maybe 15hrs a week. Just hearing the terms, matching what diseases and tools you hear about in class with them in real life has increased my nursing IQ tremendously.
  8. Thanks for the replies. I talked to my school and they said they are currently debating if we may take the LPN exam. Aparentlly all we need is permission and proof from our school that we have met the min requirements or above to hold a LPN License. It woulnt be able for atlease 8 more months, no rush but it would be cool.
  9. I'm in RN School now (3rd week of fundamentals) with no healthcare expirence. I have heard somewhat of RN students, after some time in the program, may sit for the LPN license. Is this true in florida? What does one need to meet the requirements to take the exam (as a RN student)? Thanks!
  10. Tallahassee Memorial Hospital came in to recruit in our class. Said New Grads are offered $17.50 (which is a joke), and talk that they want to become a magnet Hospital. Dont see that happening with that crap pay, I'll be moving upon my graduation. I made a deal with myself to strive for >$20 starting. Good luck to you!
