About a month ago, I joined and have been active in this Open Arts Forum website. Basically, artists submit their work to different forums, e.g. poetry, visual arts, and other artists comment on the work and discussions typically follow. It is great!

I joined allnurses nearly a dozen years ago, and have felt so at home here because nursing was an extremely big part of my life. Now my art is an extremely big part, as I do it every day, usually at least eight hours a day, and I get to share and discuss art with like minds! There are some wonderfully weird, sensitive, intelligent, and gifted members there.

Works are chosen by the administrators now & again and are featured and/or given front page exposure. I am pleased to say that two of my works have been featured- Little Animations and Ink Stamps. I've gotten some great support and have had some really good discussions about them with other artists. Again: It is great!

On the same note: Does anybody remember when Dr. Johnny Fever (my avatar of past) on the TV snow WKRP in Cincinnati was allowed to say the word "booger" when new management took over?

Well, on this website, we can use the F word without being censored! It's like the REAL WORLD and... it's art!

Thomas Jefferson asked a question something along the lines of, "How can we be trusted with the governing of others when we can't be trusted with the governing of ourselves?"

We, as nurses, have magnanimous responsibilities and many of us have prevented others' deaths and held the key to others' well-being in our hands. We have suffered traumatic events in our career but we cannot express ourselves freely in a place that's been called our home.

One artist on Open Arts freely uses the F word and every now and then, other artists will use it, but it's not like it becomes an F feast!

Artists are allowed to be self-governing on their website, however nurses are not.

Open Arts is currently my favorite forum, knocking all nurses out of its 12-year top slot.

I recently received accolades and am featured on Open Arts Front Page for this submission"

I never really know to what the masses will be attracted.

Open Arts is sponsored by the editor, and he pays the costs for running the site. He informed me that advertisers are not keen on the use of profanity.

The bottom line on just about every site is to make money through advertisements and it is the advertisers who have the final say.

Money talks, and it's not poetic.

I support a site, both actively and monetarily, that allows its members to freely express themselves.

On the other hand, I will not support a website that feigns a greater purpose and disrespects their members, all in the cause of making money from advertisers.
