Hey everyone :)
So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:
Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens
Possibly considering RPN programs as well.
Hey guysSo ill be applying next year to Trent, Queens, UofT and Western. I wanted to ask, is the applicant more preferred if they are finishing their BA/B.Sc or have it completed already? compared to someone that is switching?
Also, how many reference letters do these schools need? Only UofT says it needs reference letters but the other schools dont mention anything about that.
Lastly, my CGPA is around a 3.2 and my final year of B.Sc i am aiming for 3.7-3.8, What are my chances?
Any tips or advice is appreciated.
only UofT asks for references, they ask for 2. At the information session they say they don't need more than two, they just need two very good references, academic shouldn't be from TA.
Main advice - get best grades possible. Uoft will not even look at applicants with lower grades until May-June, after they they process all A+/A students. Even though some people get into program with lower grades but they say grades is the most important factor and strong application will not compensate for lower grades.

UofT definitely gives preference to applicants with a completed bachelors degree over applicants still in year 3 or 4. I applied to UofT this year and even though my gpa was higher than some other applicants and I had experience of working at a Nursing lab for 1 year. I still did not receive an offer and got rejected. UofT looks at everything, your degree, how well you did in your degree, the trend your GPA has (did it increase or did go down each). The supplementary app is very important make sure you get a work related/volunteer reference and an academic reference. Also, if you really want to get in to nursing, make sure you apply to other schools too, so you have a backup. I did not get into UofT but I got into York, so I am not as bothered... sorry for a long reply
Anyone been waitlisted for UofT yet ?
Yeah I am. Apparently you have to email them on your interest to be waitlisted by July 4. I think I might just re-apply a couple years from now if my current plan doesn't ended up working. I actually got accepted to a law program at uOttawa, so i am doing that instead (weird, I know, because one of my undergrad major is biology related, but not medicine related).
You mean you have to email them to find out if you're waitlisted ? Or did they email you and let you know ?
no, what I mean is, you have to notify them through the email they provided in the email that you are interested to be waitlisted for the program. I guess if you don't respond, they will take you out of the list, thus allowing the other people below you to be pushed up.
To be honest, I am still kinda split myself. I am currently a staff at UofT and see the buildings and the students everyday. Sometime I still kinda feel like I might be able to get in, but at the same time, I dug a hole to deep in my law program, basically no turning back.
