Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Hey everyone,

I just received my rejection from UofT. I just graduated from Uoft with a 3.7 gpa. In my application, I talked about volunteering as a child support worker for children with autism, educated children about science through another program, volunteered in foodbanks, adult day programs for seniors, various on campus fairs, and playing for my schools hockey team etc. I had 4.0s in over half of the prereqs- I guess my lack of clinical and research experience is where my application wasn't as strong.

I was however accepted to the 4 year at Ryerson, the compressed program at York and trent. I have accepted my offer to York, and can't wait to start.

Just wanted to wish everyone still waiting goodluck! and those going to York, I'll see you in the fall! :)

Is there a Facebook group for Western? I can't seem to find it anywhere

I can't find a Facebook group either !! I feel like I'm really in the dark about Western's program. Really hoping for more information soon from the faculty now that we've accepted the offers.

Hey everyone,

I accepted my offer from Mac about a month ago and paid all the fees.

Does anyone know when we are going to get a package in the mail with all the details about

the program?

Hello @ dtm5477,

I spoke to someone at Mac and they said we should receive a package later on however, she mentioned that they are working towards going paperless. Sorry I wasn't of more help. See you in the fall.

Hey guys I just accepted my offer for Western through ouac but am unsure of the next steps and can't seem to get a hold of anyone at the school? Does anyone who has also accepted know what the next steps are?

Does anyone going to Mac know when our CPR certifications are due?

Does anybody know if there has been any movement on the Queens waitlist?

Hello @ kenra9,

I had called and asked about this the other day, the individual I spoke with gave me a tentative date of September 5th but she said it isn't confirmed yet and we should receive more information later on. I'm hoping soon since registration etc., is coming up. Sorry I don't have any more concrete answers for you.

I just got into U of T today! I believe my average in the last year was about 83%, supplementary info not much just volunteer frequently with Alzheimers patients and I work in a nursing home currently in dietary. I had 3 references though. I also got into Trent but will most likely go to Toronto!

Thanks Mandalynne890! I wonder how much later later on is.. Initially, I thought we wouldn't need it until before our placements start but I guess they want to get it out of the way before we start school. Thank you for your help! I'm gonna start looking for CPR classes :)
