Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Yes, 1-1 does sound better but also I would look at their coursework. I think they have a diff. teaching philosophy.

Nipissing definitely does have an untraditional program! It's really up to individual preference with regards to learning style. Nipissing alumni loved the program!

I am currently wait-listed at UofT. However, I think I'm going to stick with Nipissing. Experience is what gets you hired at the end of the day - you'll still be graduating with a BScN either way you look at it. Reason why I'm thinking of sticking with the SPP is because of their 1:1 ratio and more clinical placement hours.

Although the 1:1 ratio does sound very nice you have to defiantly be okay with the self taught style of teaching. It's a very unique program and you do get lots of placement opportunities but the aspect of content being taught and preparing for the NCLEX through taking various courses isn’t there. Either way the education of any of the schools will prep you fine for the NCLEX as most schools have relatively high pass rates it’s more so how do you learn yourself and are you okay not learning through lectures. That will truly help you determine between Nipissing vs any other school honestly

You're absolutely right. I'd say this is one of the drawbacks from the program. We've all gone through the traditional teaching style through undergrad, so there will definitely be a adjusting process when starting at Nipissing. But I'm confident that the tight-knit community will pull through for us starting the program.

I’m not sure exactly how many people are on the waitlist but in a few days they should let us know what waitlist group we are in (I.e. top ten, group 2 or group 3). Hopefully that gives us some idea of where we stand!

I just got off the waitlist at Nippissing!! I unfortunately did not get into UofT or Western, so I am hoping that I have the skills to excel at the SPP program. Definitely a little nerve wrecking not having lectures but hopeful the community is great!

oh wow, congrats! Do you mind me asking when you got waitlisted and did you just see your acceptance on web advisor or you got an email?

Thank you, I got an email this morning saying there was a spot that opened up and to email if I wanted to take it. I feel like I haven't "officially" gotten in since I don't have an acceptance letter just the offer for the spot. It's still not showing on webadvisor or ouac. So I guess I gotta wait still - wondering if anyone had the same situation, and how long it took to show online.

I have emailed regarding my place on the U of T waitlist. I will be sure to post here when I hear back. If anyone else hears, please post here too!
Thank you!
