Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

do you have any tips for the casper?

I've taken it 4 times so a lot of my confidence comes from experience and practice, but here's a few tips:

- review example CASPer question answers online, this gave me so much insight on how to properly answer questions

- practice typing quickly if you're not already able to do so

- try to not take any side too preferentially, the idea of the CASPer is to really show that you understand both sides of the story and how to empathize with either party

- do your research on the test to really understand it

Guys, would you say it’s relatively harder to get into unb/humber?
 If so why?

im still pending sadly.

I would say it's challenging from the perspective that you're judged solely on your grades, so if you have a lower GPA and were hoping to make your application shine through ECs, admissions don't favor your application. Additionally, because they're somewhat of a first-come-first-serve basis, applications submitted later are also disadvantaged. I would say if you're a high GPA candidate and you apply early, it's a lot easier to get in compared to other similar programs. otherwise, it's not as easy to get into because of how competitive it is.

Hey guys! When Nipissing wants proof of graduation, is a final transcript okay or does there need to be some sort of official letter or document proving we graduated?

Thanks! Congrats on your acceptance!

Hi! McMaster also wanted proof of graduation so I had to request another transcript through OUAC choosing the option "after degree conferred" (OUAC 105 > transcripts > add transcript request > after degree conferred).

I had already requested my Winter grades be sent out and I asked my current school (Guelph) if the Winter transcript was sufficient and they said it wasn't since it didn't show proof of graduation.

Hope this helps!

It was rolling admission so depending on when you applied really mattered and if at the time you applied you had a competitive GPA along with pre-reqs being completed. I think they have handed out all offers at the moment. If someone declines or fails to meet a condition would a spot open up. Unless they add more spots to their program hopefully.

Hey everyone,

I am a western applicant and my portal  is still idle on “applied”. They have received all my documentation and transcripts according to the portal. I also heard today is the last day to get a reply as it is June 1st? Is anybody else experiencing this situation?

Sorry I don't think I'm much help, but maybe try emailing admissions? I know they once emailed saying if we don't hear back by June 15th, we can contact to ask about a status on our application.

Is it possible you didn't have your final transcript before May 24th? They also said if you haven't heard by June 15th you can reach out and contact them. Hope this helps a little!
