Hello Everyone,
I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.
Hey everyone,
First time commenting, but I have been reading the forum. I've been accepted at York and Trent, but i'm was wondering if someone could give me details so i can compare the 2 programs.
The biggest CON for York has to be the whole strike thing that has happen. Does anyone know if this strike has been resolved yet, or are strikes a common occurrence?
Then the one thing I'm unsure about is that passing rate on the nursing exam for Trent isn't that high. Last year, it was only a 79.5% in comparison to York which was 92.5.
I was wondering if someone with knowledge could comment and give me more insight on the program itself. THANKS!

I'm writing the final this weekend. It find it okay, it's alot of information. Your final grade will probably only take 2 weeks to be calculated. That's what I found with the other courses I took through Athabasca and then you would send your transcript to your schools

Ah good luck! It's definitely a lot of information, but I'm sure you'll do well! And, that's great! This is the first time I've taken a course with them, so I wasn't too sure what to expect with the grading speed. So it's totally normal that all my individual assignment grades are just there under unofficial grades, and then in a couple weeks a final grade will appear?
If anyone has any information on how the U of T, York U, and McMaster programs compare can you please share with us? I think many people are weighing their options right now (or will be soon!) and any insight would be very helpful to know! The criteria that would be good to know is the quality of their placements, style of teaching, and ability to maintain a good GPA (would like to keep my options open for Masters in Nursing programs, as I'm sure many others would as well!).
PLEASE share! Thank you!

Yes so if all your assignment and quiz grades are there and if your exam mark is there it should probably only be 5 business days maybe before your final grade appears! Not too long

last year GPA or last 5.0 credits (what you mean by 10 courses depends if they're all half courses or include full year courses (1.0 CR) as well!)
