Anyone applying to NP school in Ontario for the year 2025?

Would love to have a discussion started for acceptances, etc.

The only thing I'm thinking is that UofT is offering the single emphasis NP and York is still the PHCNP. I am wondering if in the  future, the PHCNP will begin to limit me to only primary care if they decide to change all NP programs to single emphasis in the future.

I mean it is hard to predict the future, my interpretation of the future landscape of healthcare in Canada is that more MDs will be wanting to pursue specialties, there is already a significant decline in family medicine. I think what will make most logical sense with our aging population is that we will see more government funding for NP led clinics and gerentology NP programs. Regardless, it is hard to say or predict but you must do what you feel is right for you 🙂 Whatever decision you make you will be successful!

Congrats! That's a tough decision to make. Full scholarship would help ease any financial stress so you can focus on the program instead of working full time. I'm sticking with UofT because of the online nature. I believe at York, you have to go in person every 2 weeks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is SO true.
@neuronurse25 -Congratulations on having two incredible options! So proud of you!

@hopefulNP2025 - This is a really good perspective. Having the financial worry taken care of is a huge pro. That way @neuronurse25 can focus on school/home life instead of FT working. Once you graduate, you won't have any worry about having debt from grad school.

That is true! Thanks everyone for chiming in. This is gonna be a very difficult decision and I hope UofT offers a good scholarship before I have to make this decision.

I got a full scholarship to YorkU so now I don't know if I should accept UofT versus YorkU. 35K+ or free tuition. Online versus in person. I know UofT hasn't released their scholarship information yet- anyone know if UofT offers good scholarships?

Did you have to submit an additional application for the scholarship at YorkU or were you automatically granted a scholarship? I didn't get anything in my offer letter so I was just wondering if I missed the application

No I didn't submit any additional application-they just gave it to me on my offer letter.

I thought all programs in Ontario were going to become single stream 😮 is that true?

Maybe but right now it seems like all other programs other than UofT is still PHC model.

IDK if I didn't notice this before but does anyone else have a "next steps" column beside their decision pending for York?

Yes mine was there since the beginning of processing the application

Has anyone received a rejection letter from UofT?

Its still so early in the game!! When I first graduated from BSCN, I applied to UofT Masters of Public Health (another highly competitive program) and I didn't get my acceptance till May 16th! You have to consider if people decline UofT they will go to another applicant.

I don't think they send out rejection letters till after the deadline after they have time to review all the applicants.
