Ontario- HOAE results? 'Normalized' score?

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Just wondering if anyone else has recently taken the HOAE? I got my results, but I am wondering what the 'normalized score' is all about? I am willing to share my scores if anyone is interested in comparing their results. Might give us an idea of what the average score was like, or what the deal is with the 'normalized' value. It's frustrating to sit and wait around during the college strike... I personally haven't received any news on my application at all since I got my HOAE scores. I applied to both Pre-Health and RPN. Looking online, it doesn't even seem like they have all my prerequisite grades recorded.

Well...as they say, patience is a virtue. Although I don't recall anyone ever accusing me of being 'virtuous' before. :D

Just anxious to get started, like everyone else!

I wrote my exam this month too Naheed. Maybe we wrote the same day!

I just got my results back but don't really know what to make of them?

Academic Aptitude - 68

Natural Sciences - 42

Reading Comprehension - 27

Spelling - 40

Vocational Adjustment - 78

I'm going into the program with an 82 average...so it doesn't seem very likely that I'll be accepted. Guess there's always next term.

I know this thread is old but i'm stressing out so much trying to figure out if i'll get into the nursing program for January 2014

I think I pretty much failed the HOAE test my marks were:

Academic Aptitude - 39

Information in the Natural Sciences- 31

Reading Comprehension- 22

Spelling- 27

Vocational adjustment- 81

My marks from Mohawk's Academic Upgrading course are:

Bio- 95

Math- 94

English- 90

and I kept my 80 from highschool chem

Please help :(

I just wrote this test yesterday, the last day of testing. The natural sciences questions were very hard for me. I graduated high school 10 years ago!!! I hope i did ok.

Wrote HOAE yesterday and got the results today. My experience was totally opposite. I found natural sciences the easiest of all. But my spelling score is terrible, and I actually expected worse. When I saw these words during the test, I honestly panicked and just tried to guess which is the right one (English is not my native language and I never went to school in Canada)

Hoping to get into the program in January, but if it is not going to happen, just have to wait for next year and fix my spelling somehow.

Also graduated from high school 10 years ago and didn't really know, what to do with my life, but this idea of becoming a nurse was always somewhere in the back of my head. Now it is slowly forming into a dream.

Just want to say good luck to all attempting to enter the program, studying or practicing nursing. ;)

Cheers!

P.S. I'll share my score anyway, so who ever is reading this could compare.

Hi everyone!

I will be writing my test on Wednesday, I was extremely nervous before reading this thread. I graduated highschool 9 years ago and was trying to study from HOAE test preparation book; it is the reason why I panicked!

Thank you for the reassurance!

Hello,

I got my HOAE results today, I was surprised I never got an email about I just happened to log into banner and manually checked it. Does anyone know how to interrupt these results?

ACADEMIC APTITUDE ------ Raw = 47 Normalized = 65

SPELLING ------------------ Raw = 29 Normalized = 68

READING COMPREHENSION - Raw = 27 Normalized = 82

NATURAL SCIENCES ---------- Raw = 35 Normalized = 58

Are these good or bad results? I have an average of 82% on my high school grades. Do I have a chance of getting in?

I just did my HOAE test today, I have to wait 2-3 weeks for the result.

Hi b18c!

Where have you done your HOAE test?

I also wrote the test on Feb 6 at Mohawk college and I am very nervous waiting for the results.

I also wrote mine at Mohawk on Feb 5. I'm also nervous too and I can't wait to get the results. Moreover, I also found the test somewhat hard.

Did you get your results?I haven't and that is killing me.Please, let me know when you get them and that we can compare.I hope that we both did good job.

I didn't get the result yet it could take up to 3 weeks. But I'm hoping that we'll both pass.

Also, what is in the Academic Aptitude section? Math, Vocabulary only? or there is a non-verbal section as well?
