Hello future nursing students,
I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.
To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.
How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

I think I’m leaning more towards spp. the 1:1 preceptor I think will be super helpful! Also I want to work in paediatrics. The only reason I would choose uoft over spp would be because I would want to get involved on campus

I definitely see the benefit in this! rly appreciate the input ?

I message the program manager for SPP this program. I asked her if it was online courses cause everyone kept saying there was no lectures. This was the question I asked was Question 1) After doing some research, I believe the SPP program doesn't have any lectures? Is course work done by yourself (similar to online school)? answer: We schedule seminar sessions during the first three weeks and last week of each semester, which are attended by cohort learners. Seminars are also conducted weekly during practicums. Program curriculum content is integrated within activities and evaluation measures.
I also asked if they had study spaces at the Michener campus, she didn't really answer my question properly. Did anyone tour this place before? I know this is weird but study spaces matter a lot to me as I can't study at home properly I get distracted. That's probly the only reason why I would choose U of T. For that campus like feeling.

I’m wondering if you would be able share what your U ot T GPA was at the time of your application was (last year of courses) and you applied to any other schools other than U of T and Nipissing? Also, did you have all your U of T prerequisites completed with a grade before you received your U or T offer? Thanks so much for sharing this - super anxious to hear back but this gives me some hope!
Hey!
Sorry I misunderstood your previous message! I'm replying here IDK why it won't let me send a private message back. My final year (Last 5.0 FCE) GPA was 81.9%. which is also a 3.7 on the UofT GPA scale.

Thank you for this! Michener does have study spaces. Also as a non uoft student you can still use their study spaces. I know what you mean though, I’m thinking the same thing, it’s nice to have a sense of community that I feel SPP may be missing

U of T doesn't allow that anymore cause of covid ? I tried to go a couple weeks ago unless they have some sort agreement with Michener, but thank you for your info!

Oh wow I didn’t know that! I’m going to email SPP and ask, because that it also a big component for me

Not sure if this is helpful for others but I have received offers from Humber, Trent, and Nipissing SPP. I'm still waiting on Western and UofT.
I got into UofT last year but due to circumstances I couldn't attend (I missed the email and the offer expired, got put on the top of the waitlist but then due to personal reasons I couldn't go as the waitlist didn't open up for me until the day before classes)
Thought I would share some of my stats: I applied with a 3.7 GPA (final 2 years -84% average), graduating from UofT in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies. I scored in the fourth quartile for CASPer (75th to 100th percentile), work at TGH emergency as a clerk, and work for CRPO as my full time job. My extra-curriculars are two clubs in undergrad, clinical volunteer experience at UHN, and being a research student at Toronto Rehab (UHN) in my fourth year.
I am between Nipissing SPP and UofT at this point (still waiting to hear back so who knows) but I would appreciate all/any info anyone would like to share about why they would choose one program over the other ?
Best of luck to everyone waiting, this is my third round applying to nursing school so keep your heads up! Acceptances are coming ?
Hey we have similar backgrounds! I work at UHN too and just got accepted to SPP ? I'm still waiting to hear back from U of T, but am very interested in what people's thoughts are on the two programs. Do you know if another thread has been created for 2022 applicants?

Hey! My GPA has not changed as I have not taken any additional courses after grad so at the time I applied I had already been out of school for a year. The only thing that has changed are my new work positions at CRPO and Emergency. When I applied last year I was working at UHN as a health surveillance screener. I got in around the end of June (second to last round of acceptances). The previous years they also required references as well so this year might be a bit different. I do really think the supplementary application matters a lot with uoft because my grades and extracurriculars had not changed but as a third time applicant to UofT, the supplementary application was the only thing I took a different approach to each time.
Last year I got waitlisted at Western and Humber (humber I applied super late), and rejected from the 4 year ryerson program and 4 year ottawa u program.
