Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

This got buried. So I’ll post again

Does anyone know if schools would not count one of terms (Summer school in my case) in the average calculation for last 2 yrs due to extenuating circumstances. I had some ongoing family issues last Summer as a result my grade suffered in the only course I was taking that Summer.  Do I have to include a letter from doctor or a document with an explanation from me would suffice. Also would mentioning depression be a big no?

Also, are averages calculated on OMSAS scale?

I know that for uoft they give an option to explain certain circumstances. Not sure if they would completely disregard the grade but it would definitely help and factor into their decision. If that one grade is an outlier that will also speak to your overall academics because things happen. I would personally not mention specific health issues, first of all it isn't the universities business. I would just keep it broad and mention you were sick. But do whatever you think is right and what you’re comfortable with.

Hey if you applied for UofT, there’s an optional part of the supplementary application where you can indicate any extenuating circumstances that would’ve negatively impacted your application. At the Join UofT portal it also says you can submit documentation for them to consider you if you haven’t received an offer of admission or something.

I don’t believe averages are graded on OSMAS. I followed the UofT grading scale.

Hope this helps.

It looks like some offers went out February 1st for Humber!

Hey,

For those who applied to York, have they asked you to upload any documents on MyFile? like course outlines/descriptions

No they don't! The only thing I uploaded was the transcript.

Okay! Thank you for letting me know ?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering how many words you guys wrote for the second part of the uoft supplementary application (leadership/community involvement)? Since there's no word limit, I'm afraid I wrote too much/ too little.

Personally I'm not worried about writing too much. They didn't give a word count limit so I'm taking that as an open invitation to add as much as you want. ?

Has anyone figured out who could be a verifier for Queens? I emailed them twice, it's been more than two weeks since my first email. Has anyone else heard back from them?

Hi I emailed them a while back this is what they emailed me back:

Thank you for contacting Undergraduate Admissions at Queen’s University. Verifiers can include any School Official, this includes: Teachers, Counselors, Principals, Office Staff, Teachers assistants. If the Executive of your clubs is a teacher then that would be okay as well.
